In the past few months I have been getting more junk e-mail than I have EVER gotten!!! It has been CRAZY!!! And a LOT of it is from places that I have never heard of. A lot of it says that I had agreed to recieve mail from them by registering at one of their "partners."
Now I have not been actively doing Rewards (except for My Points E-Mails) for some time now. And I have not registered at many new places. But this mail is making me NUTS.
I have a theory that Freeride has sold its mailing list because a lot of these e-mails are coming to DH's e-mail address and Freeride is the only Rewards program that he did.
Has anyone else noticed this? It makes me ever MORE eager to get Cable internet access so that I will have a new e-mail address and I can get rid of this JUNK mail!

:)

I did read a rumor that Freeride is not coming back so it wouldn't surprise me.

I have also noticed lots of extra email especially in the last month. It can't be Freeride
because I've never done that one.

I get a lot of it too....I have to check my email three times a day now just to keep it under control........there's about 40 sitting there waiting everytime I check.

The last two weeks have seen a lot of junk e-mail. I spend a least 15 minutes trying to unsubscribe. It hasn't really worked since I still get plenty of junk.

I've been getting a lot too - but most of mine is from porno sites. I don't know what I did but somehow I got on one of their lists.

I heard somewhere that you should be careful about unsubscribing from things you didn't subscribe to in the first place. If you answer an unsolicited email to unsubscribe, you are just letting the sender know that they have a live address.

Yes! I have noticed that too...I have a yahoo account for all my reward programs and I have at least 10 junk mails a day in it, if not more!! I think you are right about Freeride...I also heard they are not coming back...Too bad because Freeride was one of the best programs out there, in my opinion!

Does your browser have the mechanism to block unwanted email?

A typical option is to block everything from a particular domain, for example if aaaa@bbbb.com sends you junk, you block bbbb.com (the domain). If you do this, you don't have to unsubscribe.

This will not work if the domain is the same as yours or that of friends and relatives you receive good email from, for example aol.com or prodigy.com or yahoo.com.

Sometimes your bank or insurance company shares your personal information with third parties. This is my stance on that subject: Regardless of whether the consumer sends back the form or letter to the company requesting opt-out from sharing of personal information, the consumer reserves the right to quickly treat mail from third parties receiving his/her personal information as junk mail and to quickly treat e-mail from third parties receiving his/her personal information as spamming.

I sent my husband a PassionUp greeting through ATR for the one time 10 points. He swears that since I've sent him that card he's gotten at least 10 junk emails every day. Oyyyy. Mine is manageable though.

for it. All my junk mail is about special holiday discounts.

When we got back from our WDW vacation, 9 days, we had over 1100 emails. About 20 of which were not junk or spam. It does seem that, with the holidays, everyone has a sale going on or needs you to get their credit card or whatever.

I have tried to unsubscribe to most of them but the onslaught continues. I guess that I should have the attitude: I am greatful to get so many pieces of junk mail because it means that I have a computer and I am popular(or at least my money is:D ).
