Has anyone done this?

I was thinking a bringing a blender with my favorite TGIFridays Orange Cremesicle frozen drink mix with me (just add ice and blend!). Is that nuts? When we cruised with the kids, I hardly had anything during the day (and just a little at night) but this time we are not taking the kids! I'd love to sit at the adult pool with my fav drink (I know they have great frozen drinks but at $3.50- $4 a pop for 7 days it could add up FAST!). Although it sounds like it, I am NOT planning on spending 7 days boozed up - frozen foo foo drinks really don't have that much alcohol! Am I insane or has anyone else done this?

I was thinking of this too! Not as crazy as you think - or we are both nuts! The only problem with it that I can see is that you need to get ice from your steward, not readily available for self serve...I would be interested in hearing from others that have done this....

If I remember correctly, there is a card in your room that you can tell your room steward when you want your ice bucket filled each day. And you can always go up to deck 9, at the water station and get ice from there.

Diana - you bring the blender, I'll bring the booze

DH gave me a 1/2gal of coconut rum for Christmas last year. Its been sitting here patiently waiting with a tag on it that says "dont touch me, Im going on a cruise"

Only problem I see with your plan is that they don't allow you to bring on your on booz, unless you pay(usually people who bring wine do this). You can try and smuggle it on, but I don't know what they do if your caught.

Boling - FYI - on this you are mistaken (gladly I'm sure!) Disney DOES allow you to bring on your own beverages (of choice!). You may bring on a soft sided cooler (no hard sided coolers). They do ask you not put ice in it (I would think in case it leaks). They do charge a corkage fee on wine you bring into the dining rooms - this covers pouring, storing, opening, etc. You may also order a corkscrew from room service (it has Disney Cruiseline on it - great free souvineir!). You may not take off any opened bottles of alcohol so if you open something you have to finish it -- that's where your new DIS friends can come in handy! ;)

Ok, now I am confused. I've read several other posts that indicated you are allowed to bring your own on board. Can we get an official Disney reply to this, or if someone out there
really knows for sure. I know there is a corking fee if you'd like to
have your own bottle of wine at dinner, but I thought we were allowed to have our own in the staterooms, with out any additional fees

Although the information you receive from Disney says you are not allowed to bring alcohol, this is one rule they don't enforce. I've been on 3 Disney cruises and have brought alcohol and soda on board all 3 times. I have a soft sided cooler that is perfect for this and Security does open and check inside the cooler and not once have I had alcohol or soda confiscated. I like Diet Dr. Pepper and that is not available on board, so I like to bring my own.
Bring enough alcohol to last you to the first Caribbean Island because you can buy liquor in the Islands for much less than in the States. That way, you don't have as much to bring on board. Just make sure you finish whatever you open as you can't take opened bottles off the ship.
I never thought about bringing a blender, but I have to keep that in mind for future cruises.

Thanks for the reply. That sort of clears it up. Let me get this straight. Is it the liquor I buy onboard that I can't open till off the ship? Your statement seemed to indicate if I make a purchase
in a port of call that what I bring back on board I am free to consume but no opened bottle maybe taken off.

whew! tough subject,
hate to spend $ on something like Tanquery and have to give it up

There is a store on board where liquor can be purchased, but it is not delivered to your cabin until the last day of the cruise. This liquor is meant to be part of your liquor allowance through customs. I wouldn't flaunt the other liquor, I think DCL implies you can consume your own liquor in your cabin, not in the restaurants and decks. When we did consume our own liquor, we tried to be discreet, "hiding" it in DCL cups and the like.;) At one point I ordered a glass of wine at the pool, it came in a heavy plastic wine glass. I refilled it a couple of times over several days in the cabin (mostly because I was not that enamored with their selections), but the folks on deck were pretty quick to scoop it back up when I was not looking.

Carla, I wasn't overly impressed with the wine selections at the bars either. I also agree with you not to flaunt your own liquor. We bought a soda mug on our first cruise which I drink out of almost every day here at home that I bring to fill with "my" drinks and also at the drink station (NO - I will not try to get soda with it - I don't like fountain soda!). When my DH drinks his beer, he always puts it in a plastic DCL cup also. They are kind enough to let us bring it on - saving $$$ - no need to flaunt it!

I, of course, will have to order the frozen green drink I had when pulling away from port in St. Thomas. Wish I could remember what it was! (I drank mine and my DH's - it was the 2 for 1 special that came in great plastic "hurricane" style DCL glasses)

Frozen Margarita Madness disney6? We drank coconut-banana cream goo we bought at Havensite mall. Yummy, too. Had one, had to go back to the cabin for another.

I was planning to get the mango orange soup and add ice with a splash of rum and make my own smoothie - but forgot the rum!

disney6,
I think you are referring to the Midori Daquari - They were so yummy! One night (I think St Thomas night) they were the two for one drink as the ship was getting ready to sail! I would love to know what is in those....:D

So, no one has brought a blender on board???

TRY to get a painkiller on board - it is not on their list! However, I was able to guide the poolside bartender through it. As to bringing with, we took 2 cases of diet pepsi and a case of beer on last week, and the only thing they asked was that we wrap them in plastic garbage bags (which they provided).....why I do NOT know. A lady standing beside me in line was QUITE vocal about it, telling me "You can't take that on, they'll confiscate it, you are wasting your time....." - she was EQUALLY vocal to DCL as I walked up to sign in WITH my beverages! We used a small folding luggage carrier to keep them all together - also works to take the cases of Guavaberry back off the boat.

Steve

Midora Daquiri? I WILL remember this! Yes, 2 for 1, sailing away from St. Thomas! yum. will have to check out the painkiller also!
Steve, we had to put my DH's beer in a garbage bag also! I also took on some caffeine free Diet Coke and some sprite for the big boys. Next time, I will put this stuff in our rolling bag! Of course, the rolling cooler (soft sided) was/will be full of wine. Gotta have the right wine to match the dinner! Plus we usually take an extra bottle of Ontario late harvest reisling (not quite as sweet as ice wine) and give it to the server who notices and comments (usually at Palo's - like to give it to someone who knows what it is and appreciates it).
