We are traveling 12/29-1/3. There are room discounts that start on 1/1. If I make two separate reservations--one for 12/29-1/1 and another for 1/1-1/3 at the same resort, will I have any issues? It'll save us a minimum of $200.

TIA.

You will have to check out/check back in and there is a chance you will have to change rooms (with the second room possibly not being available until later in the day, which is highly likely as you will be there during the busiest time of year). With that said, you could have the reservations linked with a request to keep the same room. When you check in for the first stay, tell the CM you have a continuing reservation and would like stay in that same room if possible. It's not guaranteed you won't have to move, but they will do everything they can to accommodate you.

Yes to all of this and, just to add, make sure you book the same room category for both reservations. That will minimize the likelihood that they'll make you change rooms.

We've done this in the past, linked the two reservations and did not have to change rooms. Wasn't a problem at all.

Thanks, all! This wasn't our original vacation plan, but I have to be in Orlando for work from 1/3-1/6, so we're trying to make it work.

I don't even mind if they make us switch rooms! Maybe I'll make it fun and switch resorts. Either way, it saves money that we can use for something else. :)

I called to make sure they noted we had another reservation at the resort the following day. We didn't have to switch rooms but they made us go to the front desk to "re-check in" wasn't a big deal since we were there for breakfast/ the buses anyway. It was only a $40 difference for us, but that was easily breakfast and lunch for the two of us. :)

Just know that if you're booking packages for both you'll have to buy tickets in both package. Best to get the tickets in the first reservation and just do room-only in the second, if you want to get any package. (if you have to get a package for the second but not the first, you CAN pick up tickets early, but you won't be able to make FP+ arrangements ahead of the first part of the trip until you get them once there)

Are you booking a package or room only?
When I have booked room only stays and the rate changes, or kicks in, partway through the trip, the rate changes when I look at the rate breakdown.
A good example of this is our stay this month, we check in on 11/22 and out on 11/28. There is a promo only on the last 2 nights, the rest of rack rate only. We get the promo rate on those nights, no need to book 2 reservations to get it.
