I signed us up today and I've heard theres a few different scenerios they might do (ie Captain Hook stole something and then Peter's at the end/Malicefent stole something and Aurora's at the end) Just wondering what they've been recently and how often the characters at the end are duds lol. What has your experience with this tour been?

I just did the FMT in mid July. The story went that Peter Pan stole Captain Hooks hook and we had to get it back before Captain Hook turned MK into the Pirate Kingdom. It was alot of fun , my kids loved it . Peter Pan and Wendy were with us for the last 45 minutes or so. We did pictures and Peter Pan played games with the kids, then we went on a ride, Mickeys Philarmagic. My kids sat next to Peter and Wendy and were thrilled. I think you will have a great time!! :wizard:

We did our tour July 17 & had the Capt Hook plot with Peter Pan & Wendy at the end.

Peter Pan scared the living daylights out of my 5 year old (not on purpose but it was rather comical! :rotfl2: )

Got pictures & autographs, it was great! DS has 1 more picture left on his camera which our Peter Pan pictures are on that roll of film (due to me leaving the digital in the stroller! :o) I'm dying for that last picture to get taken so I can get them developed.

Peter Pan was awesome with helping my 8 year old and his fear on one part of the attraction we went on.

My kids were sitting next to Peter Pan. Other kids on our tour sat next to Wendy. :)

My family also did the family magic tour (June 05) and it was the Captain hook scenario, my kids had such a wonderful time and Peter and Wendy were the characters that showed up at the end. The characters told stories to the kids, posed for pictures and sat with the kids during Mickey's Philharmagic.

The funniest thing happened during our tour, when Peter and Wendy showed up other families not on our tour wanted to see them, and of course the cast members nicely explained and the families would then leave, well we get to Mickey's Philharmagic and as a tour member, you get to enter through a special door and sit right up front. Well this man (older man hehehe) decides he is going to jump over three rows of seats to sit in the first row lol
well Peter and Wendy let him have it, they called him many names as well as a CODFISH, he did not find it funny and did not want to move, then Wendy went on to say how she loves how Disney brings out the best in people, needless to say he did not move lol
The funny thing was that all of the adults pretty much sat in the second row and let the kids sit up front, so in the front row were the kids, Peter, Wendy and the "Codfish" lol

PMart :cool1:

We did the FMT on July 11th and had the Captain Hook stolen sword plot but we only had Wendy, for some reason Peter Pan never showed up! The kids still had a great time and rode with Wendy on Its a Small World. A few days later we were in Mickey's Philharmagic (in the second row) and Peter Pan and Wendy sit down with another group. My ds (5) yelled - there's Peter Pan and he turned around. I told him we were on the tour a few days earlier but missed him and he apologized and after the show came over the spent a few minutes with my kids, apart from the tour. He said he really felt bad that he wasn't able to be there when they did the tour. The kids were happy just to see Peter Pan up close so everyone ended up happy.

Does anyone know if this is an appropriate tour to take a 1 yo on ?

There is no age limit but in my opinion I wouldn't. They wouldn't understand what was going on and although they would enjoy parts of it - would be hard for them to be involved since it's interactive with you acting out things, follow the leader, etc... (don't want to give away anything here, but I did do a spoiler report in the Trip Reports section.)

I left my 1 year old with DH (he didn't want to do it) and I'm glad I did. The tourguide walked fast, so although he did stop so we could catch up, etc... it was sometimes difficult to weave in & out of the crowds (of course, we had to make our way through summer crowds, which I know their was a person with a stroller on our tour but it wasn't always easy to manuver around with it!). I think 3 & older would be better, however, I see you have an older child too (who is at the perfect age!), so if you didn't want to split up and wanted to do it as a family, go ahead.

how long is it? We are thinking of doing it, but we also have a 1 yr old(she'll actually be 22mo when we go). My other girls will be 9 and 3 1/2. From what I've read of it DH would probably not mind sitting it out(he's not as much for making a spectacle of himself as I am), but I was wondering how long we would be gone for.

It varies a bit - it's scheduled for 2 hours but I know ours ran over by about 30 minutes? In total, it took us about 3 hours from the time I said "Bye" to DH to the time I got back to the resort (which was the Contemporary). After the tour though, we saw PUSH so stopped to say Hello & rode a ride. :)

I've heard various ending times depending on how big your party is (i.e. how long does it take to get pictures, autographs, etc...), it starts at 10:00 AM and I can't imagine anything later than 1:30 to meet up again (taking into account travel times, etc... if your DH is sticking around MK, then easily by 12:45 - 1:00) - we were actually done with our tour around 12:30 - 12:45 and that was because we of what time we arrived and having to wait for the previous showing to finish.

I think it's about 3 hours when I went. We had Peter Pan and Wendy. Since you have two older kids I would take the almost 2 year old with. I think at that age there are plenty of fun stuff that she would enjoy. A few slow parts, but with the group you don't have to always stay "involved".

The tour is great, I don't like to be the center of attention either, but I had a lot of fun skipping and crawling around MK.

We did this tour in May and we had Peter Pan and Wendy! IT was AWESOME!! Definately one of the best things we did on vacation. I scheduled it for our last full day and the kids loved it! We definately got some great quality time with Peter and Wendy. :flower:

The tour says it is 2 hours but ours was easily 2 1/2 - 3 hours - It started at 10 and I had a PS for Crystal Palace at 1 and we just made it to that.

Assuming you are doing the tour for your 8yo and not the 1yo, then I think it's fine. I did the tour last year with then 8yo DSis and 15mo DD. There was another family with a 1yo as well. The dad and I brought up the read of the group with the girls in strollers. The two little ones were just along for the ride and enjoyed Peter Pan at the end and the ride on Small World.

To the OP...we have had the Capt Hook scenerio twice in the last 3 years. I haven't heard of anyone doing the Malificent one in a while. I think that may have been when there were two tours each day. With the Capt Hook scenerio we had Belle and Cinderella the first time and Peter Pan (no Wendy) the second time around. Peter was great and told all the kids when he and Capt Hook would be doing a meet and great later in the afternoon encouraging them all to come by to yell "Hook is a Codfish" with them.
