My dd's are going to Disney in less than three weeks to dance as part of this program. :cool1: I'm starting to really wonder what goes on. If you've been, what was your experience?

The girls are really working hard and the studio owner is feeling the pressure to have them be 'perfect'. I'm just left with trip planning so I was really wondering what the trip is gong to be like. Thanks.

A lot depends on what your daughter's dance teacher has scheduled, as there are various ways to "do" Magic Music Days. If they are doing performance only, they will be met at the beginning of the day by a MMD CM, who will explain rules, times, places, etc and then send them out into the parks or into dressing rooms to change (depending on how close their show time is to their arrival time). At show time, the group will be escorted out to their stage, announcements will play, they'll do their performance, and then they'll change clothes again and either be sent back into the parks for the rest of the day or they'll get on the busses and head home. Again, it depends on the schedule the director has chosen.

If they're doing a workshop, then that will be worked into the schedule and they'll probably get their in-park time on another day.

The director shouldn't feel any more pressure to be perfect for this than he/she would for any other performance. It's not like there are dozens of Disney scouts in the audience, looking for future talent! The performances are done for parents and guests, just like any other show.

My DD danced at WDW for Magic Music Days in November 2002. Her dance director was also very obsessed with perfection but that's no different than dancing at home in class. They also were sceduled for a workshop a different day at MGM. The entire experience was fantastic for the children and parents as well. We were there for 5 nights and 6 days and we only had to meet strictly for the performance and the workshop. Besides that we were free to do whatever we wanted the rest of the trip. The girls had a ball being at Disney World with their friends. It's something they will always cherish and never forget. Enjoy it!
