I am going to the dinner with Shamu thing in October with wife, 3yr old daughter, and in-law's. Sounds like it will be cool. I was wondering if anyone else out there has done it, and what they thought.
Thanks in advance
Tim

We went in February and now recommend it to everyone. We loved it. It's pretty educational, which I wasn't immediately thrilled about, since I was after all, on vacation from school, but it wasn't boring stuff. The trainers talk about how they work with the whales, and about the whales. Plus they have some of the whales doing some little tricks. The best part, for me at least, was being so close to the whales. It was really incredible, because they are such amazing creatures (I think). We really enjoyed it, and if we return to Sea World again and they still have that dinner option we will do it again. The pictures we were able to get were incredible, because we were so close. And by the way, the food is amazing. Better even then Disney buffets (and those are pretty good). Very wide variety of food on the buffet, so everyone should be able to find something they like.

We had done this about 3 years ago - when it first started. The food was not that spectacular - maybe that has changed. But, the "personal" interraction with the trainers and whales was the highlight of our trip. We got very close up photos of the whales and trainers. Have fun - worth it. Donna in Maine

We just did Dine with Shamu on May 9, and I would highly recommend it!

The food was probably the best that we had of all of our theme park meals (maybe with the exception of 'Ohanas at Disney's Polynesian Resort). They offered a variety of entrees: chicken alfredo, grilled chicken, a beef dish, and jambalya, plus quite a variety of salads and sides, including fresh fruit. The kids buffet had hot dogs, chicken tenders, mac and cheese and a few other items.

The orca interaction wasn't a show at all, but was more educational, but not boring at all. Our 5 year old stayed very interested it throughout, with the Trainers talking about how the whales are trained to perfrom the behaviors used in shows and general animal care. (Did you know each whale is weighed weekly? We're talking animals waying up to 11 tons each!) But seeing my son's face when a killer whale stuck his tongue out at him from about 5 feet away was worth any price!

Thanks for the info. We are really looking forward to October. Between MNSSHP and SeaWorld, it should be a blast. Of course, seeing the world through a 3yr old's eye's is the best of all!

Thanks again for all the reply's.

Hi,
Sounds like fun. Just have a few questions about it. How much is it for adults? How far in advance do you have to make reservations?

Thanks

I believe for two adults and two kids it was about $100... about $30 pp for adults and $20pp for kids. Check out www.seaworld.com for more information. It can be booked about three months out, although someone recently posted that they booked it online further in advance than that.... but I didn't find that to be the case....................BTW, I bought our tickets and booked our dinner online with no problems at all..............P
