Has anyone dined at Yachtsman Steakhouse lately?

I've mentioned on other posts about our first LC experience years ago, it was absolutely awesome. They made a big deal about PRIME Canadian beef, and it truly wa sfork tender. Next two visits were simply ehh, and that last experience left me wanting to "say something" but DH wouldn't let me. We have since starting eating at Concourse because it was better than LC in our eyes and no attitude from the servers. I have high hopes for this meal as well, the kids have wanted to eat there since our first YC stay in '05. Thanks for the info :)

We ate there on the last night of our trip, June 11, 2007. It was DMom and I. It was supposed to be DSis but she wasn't feeling well and told our mom to go in her place (and paid for both of our meals!!!!). I think we had Oscar, if he's an older gentleman from El Salvador or another country in that region. The meal was fabulous. Of our 9 nights, it was one of our top 4 meals - the others being California Grill, Coral Reef, and Hoop Dee Doo (a great experience and pretty good food). I ordered shrimp cocktail, and they were the largest, plumpest, most delectible chilled shrimp I've ever had the privilege of eating. They were the right amount of moist without being too fishy. Simply incredible! My mother had the caesar salad with large parmesan shavings and declared it great as well. For entrees, my mom had the USDA prime New York Strip steak, and it was wonderful by her report. The potatoes gratin were WONDERFUL!!! I had the Yachtsman Filet, which was juicy, tender, and cooked exactly to my liking. I enjoyed the mashed potatoes, but the crispy coating on the potatoes was something special and not found elsewhere (except at Coral Reef, but I'd still say the YSH potatoes won out). The rolls were great, the drinks were frequently refilled, we had a table in the rotunda section with a view of the pool area, and the meal was timed just right. Our waiter (again, Oscar?) brought out a sampler of four small pieces of chocolate for the desert, which was a nice (and on-the-house) surprise. I didn't care for them, but the gesture was thoughtful and "sweet".

We are delighted to be going back in March so my sister can enjoy the meal with us. Her then 2 year old daughter will be with us, so we're booking a 5:30 reservation to enjoy the atmosphere and hopefully clear out before my niece gets cranky and spoils the evening for others (a personal pet peeve of mine). Go and enjoy!

Jenny, yes that sounds exactly like Oscar. He's a chatter, too, but we really enjoyed talking with him.

You had shrimp cocktail? When we went there July 23, 2007, it wasn't on the menu. I even asked our waiter about it, if he could russle one up for me, and he said no, they didn't serve it :confused3 Which I thought was EXTEMELY odd for a steakhouse....I'm very jealous.
