Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

I just painted mine in nail polish- I'm waiting for it to dry so I can put a sealer on it and I'm hoping it lasts a while. It's the Tangled sun!

Sorry if the answers to this are already in here, I did skim but did not want to read all 191 paged. :rotfl2:

As a very unartistic male, who has no idea what most of this stuff even means, could someone explain the process and what I need to buy? I just don't want to mess the bands up, or make them look girly. I think all I would want to do is paint them a different color and add a tattoo.

A quick question.

I am planning to cover my band (assuming it ever arrives - right now scheduled to arrive 10 days before we get there) with glitter nail polish and a contrasting color on Mickey's head. Is there a good way to keep the band polish from overlapping the head? Or simple paint carefully?

Thank you!

In an effort to promote unity in the Great State of Alabama, this Tide fan will answer your question the best I can. :rotfl2:

I can't speak to the tattoos, but as as far as painting goes, we used a premium acrylic paint from Michaels (around $1 a bottle depending on whether or not you have a coupon). We then sealed it with American Duracoat from Michaels. If you look back at page 183, you can see what we did.

I used small brushes, a toothpick for details, and scrapbooking tool with a metal ball on the end to make the dots. I found it surprisingly easy to do.

I got some circle gemstone stickers from michaels I want to put over the mickey head. They are adhesive, but I'm not sure if it is strong enough. How have all of you attached them? Superglue ?

I didn't want to lose mine, so I used a small dot of superglue to secure the gems. I am on my second trip using the bands and haven't had any issues.

When we checked into our resort, we had a cranky CM with a major attitude problem. She insisted she could not activate the bands because of the gems. I just said ok and went back up later to a different CM, and she scanned them without any problems or attitude.

Just wanted to throw that out there for anyone who gets flak from a CM about the gems. Just let it go and seek out a diffent CM later who doesn't take issue with people adorning their bands with gems.
They work fine, but some CMs see them and instantly believe its a problem.

I'm so sad this thread seems to be slowing down... I've loved logging in every day and seeing a new set of creative MB's. I guess I can always scroll through the old ones. You have all done such beautiful work!

We'll be decorating 5 bands over thanksgiving and I'll try to post pictures.

Our other two will maybe arrive while we're away, so I'll have about 2 days to decorate before we leave. I'll try to post pictures when we get back if I actually get the time to decorate.

I just received 4 blue and 2 red bands. Will be doing the blue bands frozen with tattoos I got out of the dollar bins at Target and one red Mickey in the style of Guiness92 but I haven't been able to find the Mickey tattoos at at Toys r Us. The other red one will be Captain America. Also doing 2 Christmas bands with old green bands.

I have plenty of undecorated bands but I think this should keep me occupied til we leave. I have used all the tips on this thread and the bands have really held up well I have 3 bands that will be on their 3rd trip I'm just putting a fresh coat of base coat over them. If I knew how to post pics I would have them up. But I do love looking at everyone else's so thanks for posting!!

For those that are familiar with the Vinyl Cover bands I have a question for you....

I have an acrylic painted band that I am going to add a vinyl cover to. Should I put the acrylic sealer on before or after I put the cover on?

I love it! We have bands that hopefully will be shipped soon for our Christmas trip that I am itching to decorate! Did you paint it by hand or use stickers/tattoos?

Thanks !The only thing I painted by hand was the red band to white using acrylic paint. All the rest are temp tattoos I ordered online.

I just finished looking through the photos and I feel like it's going to be so much fun to decorate the bands once I get them!

The countdown is on for our WDW December Adventure. Finished my Magic Band based on all of my favorite treats. It has been so inspiring to see what everyone has created in this thread!

The whole band--

I used the Mickey as the cherry on the cupcake--

The top is a coffee (which I depend on for being up at rope drop) and a rice treat, which is my favorite Main Street snack--

The bottom has an Ear bar--

After reading this whole thread I used base coat and then a mix of acrylic craft paint and nailpolish. With more base coat over the top.
