Has anyone decorated their Magic Bands? Please show us the pictures!

Are they really expensive to decorate? I'm not sure I'm going to spend money on that. I like my pink band the way it is

I don't use nail polish so I bought a few bottles of the colors I wanted & one bottle of top coat. I found the two glitter ones I bought for $1 & change at Big Lots & the pink/purple one was on sale at Walgreens for $1. I got Wet & Wild brand top coat so that was also $1. I thought it was worth it. It turned out pretty good. But I'm waiting to post the photo until I put the top coats on & it's completely finished. :)

I'm FB friends with some company that was having a sweepstakes of I believe vinyl stickers that went on the MBs. There was a really cool HM one that was the wallpaper. I cannot for the life of me find the website now. Does anyone by chance have a link?

Check page 37 of the thread...I couldn't get my phone to copy the link.

Just a few more days until our magic bands ship. Can't wait to see if the sliders that I made will fit.

We did a simple red band with a white Mickey and white polka dots and it looked great. BUT - then put a clear top coat on it and when it dried it cracked horribly and looked awful :(

How are all of you getting the pretty clear shiny top coat without cracking? Did I just have a bad (or old) bottle? :confused3

I am amazed by the creativity in this thread!! :goodvibes

I used base coat for our MB n did not use top coat do to the cracking after one if the first MB was done.

I painted mine with regular nail polish (no base or top coat), laid it out flat to paint it, let it dry and when I put the band on it cracked. So, I took all of the polish off, then put it together (I can wear mine on just the colored part, so I snapped the band together on the grey part) and painted it while it was in a circle. I also put on very thin coats this time, let the dry good in between, and flexed the band a little each time before adding a new one. I can get it on now without it cracking. We leave for Disney in 2.5 weeks, so I hope it holds up while we're there.

Ours are pretty basic compared to some of the beautiful artistic bands on this thread, but my kids love them (and my DH even grudgingly agreed that his midnight blue almost black band looked cool).

These were our bands from last Sept. They were pretty filthy (it's amazing how much dirt, grime, and goopy sunblock sticks to the bands after 9 days of use), but the nail polish covered up the gunk well.

Ok, so should are or should I not use top coat on the bands? Right now I'm thinking of adding some temp tattoos to the bands and then some cleat or glitter polish on top. How can I keep it from cracking?

Use base coat over the top--it won't crack the way top coat does. So look for clear base coat and use that as your "top".

It's finally done. Thanks everyone who posted your photos & ideas! :goodvibes

What do you think about some glitter nail polish. Should I do base coat, tattoos, base coat, glitter coat?

SO I was reading all of the boards dedicated to decorating your magic bands to try and find out what the best approach would be. Alot of people seemed to be having luck with nailpolish so I figured I would practice with that on my old magic band. I used NYC white glitter nail polish (two coats) then one layer of clear top coat. I let it dry completely and when I went to wrap it aroudn my wrist the nailpolish started to crack and flake. Anyone have any other ideas? Has anyone tried using glitter and mod podge?? how about sharpies? I feel like sharpie would start to wear fairly quickly at the park.. or how about sharpie paint markers??:confused3

Some are using base coat on the bands not top coat.
Some have used mod podge and it hasn't worked well either. Others have tried painting them while naturally bent instead of flat.

Some have used the permanent markers to outline the mickey heads.

HTH

one last questions, did you lay your bands flat or did you hold them while naturally bent to put on the tattoos and the base coats?

I didn't use tattoos, just nail polish & I left mine bent & closed when I painted it.
