Has anyone called MS and used our DVC discount to rent a car?

Is this a perk for members or just another way to keep the money in the family business?
I called today to get a quote and the price seems reasonable (Alamo, Intermediate, $203.64, 6 days, Dec. 14 - 19, MCO) . Does anyone know what percent discount we're getting? I haven't rented a car in the last 6 years, just a little out of it.

I have read info on Mousesaver Web page and have read the Transportation Forum. I thought I would start here before working everything else. At least I can compare the perk value of DVC to a little leg work to get a better deal.

Opinions welcomed.

Thanks.

Sandy

Hi Twirlergirl: Don't know about Alomo, but booked a intermediate on the Emerald Isle with National for $168 a week. I booked it, because I think it was a good deal. No discount code required. Just join the Emerald Isle Club. It's free. The Emerald Isle is really neat, you just go to the garage in the airport, look for the Emerald Isle sign and pick any car you want, then leave. Fast and easy. Canadian Tom

Hi Sandy,
Are you a memeber of the Disney Club or an annual pass holder? They offer some very good discounts. You may also want to try booking on-line. National, alamo, budget and dollar are all on-site at the airport. Hope this helps you.

I have found that the Wal Mart code listed on mousesavers gives pretty good discounts at National. I've never used DVC for car rental, I usually feel pretty good about what I can get online from either National, Dollar or Avis.

No, we haven't. National Emerald Isle is always cheapest for us. I think we paid significantly less than $200 a week last month, and we had an SUV.

I just went on AOL travel website and posted the dates and size you indicated and for Alamo the total quoted including taxes etc. was $225.43. It looks like about a 10% discount. Not sure how that compares to other discounts. If you have an Entertainment card you can sometimes get a free double upgrade or a discount on the cars too.

I have a car booked for Oct 1 to 6 with National, Emerald Aisle (intermediate), Disney Club, $15 Entertainment Coupon, total $156 with taxes. I have a car for Dec 6 to 12 that I booked back in March when the rates were real low, same conditions as above, $113 with taxes. If it's not a busy time, National's rates tend to go down closer to the date. On my May trip, it started out around $185, then went down to $156, then $122, my final bill was $113!
