Hiya everyone

I bought a creative zen micro from the dvd shop in the florida mall last year. Saved a few pounds - and it works just fine over here as I charge it through the USB in my laptop. My bridesmaid bought an ipod from the apple shop in the fl mall think she got a good price for that too.

cool my dh has to replace his i pod since the one i bought for him broke ( savings is good )

Not an MP3 but i bought a nintendo DS lite for £75 so i think most things like this mp3's, games consoles etc. are much cheaper over there. We found the cheapest place for the Ds was the virgin mega store at down town disney.

Do the games work out cheaper? i'm holding off buying games for the ds for christmas as we can hopefully get them cheaper there :confused3

Definately cheaper as much in $ as we pay in £ for instance we paid $19.99 for the brain games they are £19.99 over here

We've not bought one in Florida, but we bought a Nano from Boston and never had a problem with it. Thinking of getting a Ipod this time, but if you buy the optional applecare policy for $59.99 its a worldwide warranty for 2 years cover. :cool1:

thanks i was hoping that was the case

When we were there in July the Ipod Nano was about £10 cheaper than on the Amazon uk site, in the Apple Store. The Apple Store kindly has free internet access on its computers so it is easy to check prices back at home.

With MP3 prices being low, and the allowances going up in January, this probably isn't a worry but don't forget the potential customs duty when you get back to the UK.

Is that right? Do our allowances go up in January....Sure hope so :cool1:

we have bought PSP's and 2 Ipods (shhh there for xmas!!!) but would only buy at Walmart as if there is a problem you can take it back with reciept to your local ASDA and they will sort it out, refund etc...

I would be very interested to know the new allowance I had not heard about this :cool1:

TONIGHT FROM 12.01 AM

Apple Store Savings, check it out if you need a Pod, but see below

Example of US prices: 80gb Video iPod
UK £259.00
US £206.00 approx with tax and ex rate of 1.82

Example of US prices: 4gb Nano iPod
UK £129.00
US £118.00 approx with tax and ex rate of 1.82

So much better savings on the bigger iPods, but you can use the video iPod on holiday to back up all your digital pictures straight from your camera (take the USB lead with you that came with the camera!) buy Camera Connector for £19 and you can take as many pics as you like and view them also. No more lost pics and ultra safe storage. :3dglasses

Managed to google a little article.

uty-free limit doubles
Sean Poulter, Daily Mail
29 November 2006
The duty-free rules are to be relaxed, allowing holidaymakers travelling outside the EU to bring back double the value of goods without penalty.

The current allowance of £145 is to increase to £290 under measures thrashed out by finance ministers in Brussels yesterday.
Although the decision will benefit the increasing number of Britons taking holidays or shopping trips to the US and the Far East, the new limits fall a long way short of what Gordon Brown wanted.

The Chancellor has been arguing for two years to have the duty-free limit raised to £1,000. Such a move would have made a huge difference to British holidaymakers, allowing them greater bargains on designer clothes, computer games, beauty products, CDs and DVDs.

It might also have allowed UK Internet shoppers massively to increase the number and value of purchases made outside the EU.

But the fact that control of tax policy in this area has now been shifted to Brussels means Britain has had to go along with a compromise that suits other EU states.

It is understood that the new EU members, particularly Poland, have been arguing against the level favoured by the UK.

Governments in poorer member states were worried that a higher duty-free threshold would encourage their citizens to spend their money in other countries, rather than within national borders. This would harm their retailers, manufacturers and economic growth.

The £290 limit is due to come into effect at some point early in the New Year, meaning that Christmas shoppers heading to New York for bargains will miss out. But it will be in force in time for next year's summer holidays.

I got an Ipod in 2005 from the apple store in the millenia mall.

Think I saved about £80 at the time
:goodvibes
