Hi I was reading about all the upgrades people received from pop to ssr. I was wondering if any one has ever received this kind of a deal when staying at a mod.? Wishful praying I guess. Thanks Chris :confused3

Personally Never !! If you want to stay at a Deluxe that much I would see if there is a discount available and book it. I think this only happens when the resort is being rehabbed or they are overbooked.:goodvibes

I booked on a pin code to stay at POR. We are a family of 5 so it makes it more harder to find a place to stay most suites are exempt from the pin codes. We stayed at WL on our last stay, but my youngest was 2 and we could stay in a standard room. I think Disney has something against families of more than 4. Just my opp. IF I could afford to pay for a suite in a Deluxe I would. Chris :dance3:

I understand your frustration.

As a mother of 4 (All grown now. My oldest is in her 30's and my youngest is 22) I often wished Disney had more options for larger families.
When the children were younger and we would go to Disney they did not have DVC or the family suites. In fact Disney did not have a Moderate until CBR opened in the late 1980's so if we wanted to stay onsite we either rented 2 rooms at a deluxe or stayed in the cabins.

I wrote to Disney many times over the years asking for more options for families so when I heard they were building the New Family Suites at All Star Music it just made me so happy!

So please everyone who wants more options for larger families keep sending those letters to Disney !

I agree. We have 5 too. If we stayed deluxe it would mean a much shorter stay. I am hoping they offer more DVC 1 bedrooms to hold 5 like the new akl Villas in the future or a moderate family suite that does nt cost more than the price of 2 rooms.

You don't need a suite to stay at a deluxe with a family of 5. Almost all of the deluxes have standard rooms that sleep 5 except WL and AKL.

I know with introducing baby number 5 to our family in the new year our options are going to be limited to a Deluxe I am assuming. We'll be a family of 7.

Right now POR is the only Mod that can accommodate us.

I think it's going to take a couple years of saving after the new baby before we'll be able to go back.

I wish they had more available for larger families.

Thanks for pointing that out.
You are correct.
It is the families of 6 like mine whose choices are really limited.
More than 6 would need 2 rooms, a large suite, a 2 bedroom DVC or a grand villa.

This is the last year we will be able to share a room even with the five of us. The girls are geting older and will need there privacy. I had DVC for a while but didnt like the commitment of annual fees, and I dont like renting points. I wish there were more grown up themed family suites at WDW. Fort Wilderness has the ideal set up and pricing, but I feel that the manic transport system and lack of decent pool spoils it. I wouldnt even need a full kitchen - a microwave taster and fridge would do. :rolleyes1 ;)
