Has anyone been to the Poconos lately?

Just wondering how it is? Prices? Is it worth it? It seems a bit pricey to me - I'd rather go to WDW if I am spending that much money but SO really wants to go there at some point.

If you have been - where have you stayed? What would you recommend about it? Likes/dislikes?

Thanks :flower:

I've never stayed there, but my parents used to go to Birchwood about 10-15 years ago. It was pretty pricey even back then. It was a nice place though -- individual cabins.

i live about 30 minutes from the Poconos, Depends what you want to to and where in the Poconos you want to be.

Have you looked at their website, www.caesarspoconosresorts.com
If you get on their email newsletter list, they email you online specials
for the seasons, ie. fall, winter. etc.
They have 4 different Poconos resorts to chose from ie, Cove Haven, and the rest. Check their website out. It is a romantic place to go to, to stay at one of their suites. They also have discounts on outdoor activities ie, horseback riding, etc. For the summer, one of the resorts is more family- oriented and they have kids activities and day camps during the summer(if you have kids).
My dh and I stayed at Cove Haven for our honeymoon about over 12 yrs. ago. The food was great and the outdoor activities were geared towards couples.
During the winter, there is skiing and snowmobiling.

My Dh and I stayed at Cove Haven a while ago...
it is expensive and for a vacation I would chose somewhere else....
for fun, campy, silly couple "alone" time..the ceasars resort was great.
We stayed in the apple room....heart shaped tub , private (very small) swimming pool , fireplace, round bed....gotta love the 70's color scheme and the shag rug wallcovering!!!

The food was good and we enjoyed just having fun and being silly (see the theme) together...

We ice skated, snow mobiled, played ping pong saw a couple of comedians and enjoyed the unusual room.....

Would I go back.....probably not...unless I got to try the giant champagne glass jacuzzi tub.. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I think that tub is so funny...of course, if I had a room with it it might not be too funny ;)

HAHAHA I know...I am glad we went once...
I think you DH wants some silly alone time ;)

edited to add: I would not go to one of the Pocono couple resorts unless I had a room with the crazy tub/ pool the $$$ is not worth it for the rest of the resort alone IMHO

I have lived in and around the Poconos since I was 4, tell your dh WDW is much better. ::yes::

I would never recommend the Poconos as a vacation spot.
