Has anyone been to the BC lately?

Hi Disers --

It will be my first trip to the BC in the last week of August (and my first trip to DW in 5 years!). I'm going with my DH, DS (almost 13) and DS (10). I have some questions:

- What size coffee filters should I bring for the coffee makers? My DH is a coffee snob and most likely will not want to drink any resort coffee so he is bringing his own.

- How are the busses to the parks? Should I plan on driving to MK, AK, BB and TL or is taking the bus OK? I like the convenience of the bus but I don't want to waste any precious park time waiting for or riding on busses.

- How is entering EPCOT at the World Showcase in the morning? I like to get to the parks before rope drop and hit the popular attractions before they get crowded. Will I be able to get to TT or MS before a big line has already formed? Do the people who enter from the main entrance have a great advantage?

- Does anyone know where I can buy see-through tubes to use at SAB?

I have become addicted to reading the advice of all you experts. Thanks for your help.

Bumping you back to page 1 for answers. I'm considering BC as one of my options and am curious about bus service too.

We stayed at the BCV in early June and LOVED it!!!! You will have a wonderful time.

To try and answer some of your questions:
BCV has a coffee maker that uses the basket shaped filters. Not sure what you will get in a regular room. At POFQ in Jan. I think we had a pod filter and one of those smallish (like 2 cup) coffee makers, but I could be wrong on that. The newly opened Marketplace has big coffeepots and refillable mugs now, plus half and half on tap.

Bus: we took the bus to MK only and didn't have any problems with that. We prefer to drive to AK. Took the boat to MGM. Walked to Epcot. All in all, transortation was great.

Getting into Epcot when they open is the secret for no lines. Especially for Soarin, the FP would be gone by 2 pm at the latest. Several times we picked up FP and used them later that night, did a different park during the day and came back to Epcot. The 3 minute walk to the International Gateway is fabulous.

We bought a ring and never opened it up. Just rent one for $3.--the kids will go around a couple times and be done with it. Do you really want to haul that thing back and forth to your room, not to mention blowing it up? That's what I finally asked myself. You can also "borrow" one that isn't being used---we also shared the one we rented at times. If you are driving, I would pack noodles instead. JMHO

Have fun!

We have been to the BC many times in July. It is definitely easier to use the bus to the MK. But, we found it easier to use the car for AK, TL, and BB.
However, we would always go to those parks at opening and just stay for the morning. (TL and BB get very crowded in the afternoon.) It was easier not to have to wait for the bus, especially in wet bathing suits.
Have fun!

I am certain you will get many differing opinions, but based on my stay at the YC last August, the bus service to and from the MK was far too infrequent. Especially after the fireworks, it was downright unacceptable.

Bear in mind that at the MK bus depot, you can see when the buses for other resorts come and go, so I had something to directly compare it to. For many other resorts, two buses come and went before we got one! I really felt for the parents struggling with their tired kids while waiting on the growing line.

For the first time in my 12 visits, I sat down and wrote a complaint letter to Disney about the bus service.

For one of the more expensive deluxe resorts, we found the bus service to be sub par. By the way, when we stayed at the YC in August 2001, the bus service was much better.

I do know that Disney has revised the bus service to the Epcot resorts recently. Not sure what impact that has.

Even if I have to wait on a bus I ALWAYS bus to MK. THat monorail/boat/tram deal is just too much for me.
