We just returned from a great trip at WDW. We stayed at ASMo, and really have nothing bad to say about it. We are planning our next trip now, and are thinking of trying POFQ. For our length of stay it will only be about a $500 difference. I keep flip flopping between the two. Any info would be very helpful! TIA

Sorry I haven't stayed at ASMO but we had a wonderful stay at POFQ in Sept for 8 nights, party consisted if me, my DH (49), 2 DS (22) MIL 70 and DGD (4). All of us absolutely found POFQ to be wonderful. We all had a great time and the Hotel from the start was great. Check in we had a Great CM and we had 2 connecting rooms in Bldg 3. We loved the boat ride to DTD and POR. The bus service was great as well. Always got a seat. The rooms were recently refurbished and my MIL wrote down the name of the matress so she could order one when she got home. :sunny: Cannot say enough about this place. Check out the resort sticky there is only for POFQ alone. It has some great picutres.

For a longer stay, I would go with POFQ... it has more to do there. They have the boat to DTD, there are bike & boat rentals. The main pool is nicer & they have a hot tub there. The rooms are larger, they have a coffee pot & fridge... it is much more relaxing there.

It depends on what $500 is worth to you. I've stayed at ASMO twice and this last May, we tried POFQ. I agree with a previous poster in that POFQ is more relaxing. However, if you're like us, the room is more place to sleep and shower and that's about it. So, I didn't think the extra $$ was worth it. However, with POFQ, there's never a long line, if any at all, at the food court. Whereas with ASMO, if you're not there by 7 or 7:30 (morning), there is a HUGE crowd just to get in to select your food.
So, all in all, it just depends on if you want to spend the extra $500.

We've stayed at both in the past. I prefered POFQ to ASMo. It was much smaller and quieter than ASMo. THe rooms are larger and that made a big difference during our stay. They also come with a fridge at no cost, which was great for keeing milk, water ,etc in the room. We didn't feel like we were on top of each other. All of the rooms seemed to be in an easy walking distance from the lobby and food court. THe bus stop is the first for the POFQ/POR bus. I really liked the option of the boat to DTD. It was a nice change of pace. We didn't go over to POR, but you can also use the pool there and it has a sit down restaurant.

ASMo was nice, but we were in the Mighty Duck section, which was one of the farthest from the lobby/food court/bus stop. It was a long walk to the room at the end of the night. THe buses were often crowded since they also stopped at teh other All stars before going to ASMo.

If we had to choose again with only a $500 difference, I'd definitely go with POFQ.

I shall be the voice of dissent here I think. we have just returned from the magic and were originally booked at POFQ, we stayed 2 nights and asked to be moved to ASMo, but it was full so moved to ASMu instead. we found the food court offerings very limiting, also where you can go to the bakery cabinets for a quick grab breakfast at Movies, you have to queue to get a muffin even at FQ. I also found the CM's there very abrupt and at times downright rude to us, not nice at all. All Stars were so accommodating they could not do enough for us and the bus service was as ever fantastic. We also had no issues with people pushing my daughter out of the way to get on the bus like we experienced at FQ (not Disney's fault I know but still shocking behaviour) I'd rather have the spends in future and stay at a value...... this is my plan in future 2 years at a value followed by a deluxe on the 3rd year.

Interesting comments, Val. We stayed at POFQ this July and absolutely loved the place, but we have decided to try ASMo next time.
We felt we couldn't justify the extra cost for a moderate over 2 weeks as we don't spend a lot of time in the resort and also we wanted to try a resort we hadn't been to before. The kids chose ASMo from the brochure pictures.

If the cost was the same I would pick POFQ. For an extra $500.00 I would pick ASMO hands down!

For an extra $500, I would pick ASMO as well. I had stayed there before. We stayed at POFQ for our honeymoon and it just didn't seem Disney to us. I guess we're the type of people that like the loud over the top atmosphere at ASMO. :) We would have rather saved some $$$ and stuck with the value resort.

I've stayed at POFQ and All Star Sports. My DS (6) LOVED FQ over Sports for a couple of reasons...

#1 - the Pool at FQ is so much nicer, with a serpent slide. We don't use our room for sleeping only... as we take a breather mid day and spend some days at the resort at the pool!

#2 - the boat to DTD and to POR (for a sit down dinner) was so convenient for add'l food choices. DTD opened up the world for us in that respect. We can't believe the "pizza" at WDW and in the food courts... it's worse than frozen!

#3 - the size. He wasn't "walked" to death to get to our room and we had the room farthest away possible, third floor, building 7, corner room (7340) and it was a breeze to get around!

Good luck with your decision. I just priced our 4 days at POFQ in comparison with All Star Movies... and it was about $400 more... well worth it for all the above reasons.
