Has anyone been to Indian Rocks Beach/Tampa?

I am wondering if anyone out there's been to Indian Rocks Beach by chance.... We are going to Tampa this weekend & I'm wondering if this is a nice place to go for the beach... is the beach nice? The area nice? It's either this, or driving to seaworld Orlando for the day

I seem to recall that we did not think Indian Rocks was very good on first glance so we went to Treasure Island- which has tons of shells if you have kids they will love it. DH and I thought Clearwater beach was the cleanest and most fun, there were kids there, but lots of younger adults too. You can go on a dolphin watching cruise from a place in Clearwater Beach and there was more shopping there and food options.

I live in Tampa...but I've never heard of Indian Rocks Beach! That's not surprising though. Anyways, Clearwater Beach is very Nice. St Pete has the Pier which is fun. Beer Can Island is small and quite private (but you have to have a boat to get there). On the other hand, Seaworld is Really fun too!! If you've been to a beach before and not SeaWorld...go to SeaWorld... Or the other way around.

Indian Rocks beach is actually a very nice beach. It's not as "public" as Clearwater beach. This is in part due to the fact that private residences line the beach rather than condos, hotels, etc. For that reason, more locals tend to visit this beach than visitors.
