and if you were where did DCL take you as alternate places? if it happened now where do you think they would take you since they have so many other ports that they stop at? just currious

We were on the Magic when she was the only ship in service for a 3 day cruise - Hurricane Bonnie. Left Nassau early and no Castaway Cay - an extra sea day.

The Wonder called at Charleston, SC last fall when there was a storm near the Bahamas. I believe that this replaced Nassau, but the trip was able to make it to Castaway Cay.

The problem with re-routing the 3-day trip is that if Nassau and Castaway Cay are affected by weather, there aren't a whole lot of other ports of call which are close enough to enable an on-time return and far enough away from the problem weather. I suppose Key West might be an option, but I don't know that the Wonder has ever called there.

I was on the 7-day Magic last October during a hurricane. We sailed around it, and were diverted from St. Marteen to San Juan. To "make up" for this "inconvenience," Disney gave us an extra day at Castaway Cay that week! I'll take an inconvenience like that anytime.

The seas were quite rough with 15+ foot swells which didn't make for a pleasant day on Thursday of that week. Other than that, the cruise was great. :smooth:
