SEAWORLD MAKAHIKI LUAU DINNER SHOW? :confused3 We are flying in 2 days prior to our cruise, and I wanted to surprise my kids with a fun dinner show. This past summer when we did the Magic in Mexico I surprised them with the Medevil dinner show and we all LOVED it. I wanted something a little diffrent this time. Any comments [good or bad] would be welcomed :thumbsup2

You may want to shoot me for this idea....but have you considered a day at Discovery Cove? It is the only thing we've ever done where the service was comparable to Disney. It's pricey, but the cost includes a week of admissions at Sea World, so you could do that the next day. The dolphin experience was better than anything we've seen or done on any of the islands.

I taught DD at home until high school...and you know how that can be. She spent a LOT of time talking with the trainers after our dolphin session, and really had a good time.

In fact, she has mentioned this as something she would like to do again (now that she's a senior in high school). Prior to this year, she always voiced that she knew it was a "once in a lifetime," but that it was really neat.

I actually have heard really great reviews about DC, but I have also heard it is VERY VERY pricey. There will be 7 of us.. I can't seem to find any pricing..could you give me a general idea? Thanks for your idea! :thumbsup2

Sorry, I have never done the show you are asking about, but last summer we did go to Disney's Hoop-De-Do Musical Revue and everyone, young and old, loved it. It was an absolute blast!

Day Experience Jan 1 – Dec 31 2009
Dolphin Package* $289 Non-dolphin Package* $189

HOLY COW.. $289 x 7 of us equals $2023 that is MORE then we are paying for one of our cabins for 7 nights. :scared1: :scared1: Sadly we just can't afford that..but maybe next year we can just do a family vacation to Flordia for a week...then it might be doable since you also get entrance free to sea world. Thank you for your help. :goodvibes

We attended this show last year. It was wonderful! There were 8 of us - 4 adults and 4 kids ages 3-8. Everyone loved this show. There was even a part of the show where the kids went on stage to dance so don't forget your video camera. The food was great too!
I remember it being late after the show but the park was still open. We watched the dolphins and visited the sting rays and had them all to ourselves.
I highly recommend it! :thumbsup2

As this is not cruise related I'm moving it to the Sea World/Discovery Cove forum. I'm sure the experts there will be able to answer your questions and give you some reviews.

Thank you for your information. :thumbsup2 So if I understand right the price of your dinner ticket gets you into seaworld as well? :confused3 Can you reccomend a web site were you can purchase the tickets for cheaper then they are advertising? On a side note do you think Seaworld for one day is worth the price? Thanks again and have a great Friday. :flower3:

I am also considering this dinner, but am wondering if anyone has been to Makhiki luau and the Hoop Dee Doo revue at Disney? Which they thought was better suited for a 7 & 8 year old girl? Any info would be helpful!
Thanks

I haven't done the Laua.. but did do hoopdedoo just a few months ago. My girls, 6 and 9 absolutely LOVED it!!!! They are still talking about it. I found it a smidge corny, but they absolutely rave about it.

We have been to both with our girls (5 and 9). The Makahiki Luau is better.:thumbsup2

(We are thinking of taking them on the Chi Cheemaun next summer ;) )

I never seen that post about the Chi Cheemaun earlier, I got a good laugh, being that it is the disboards. I will answer this question because I live on the Island the Chi Cheemaun ferries to.
It is a large fairy boat on the great lakes. Travelling from Tobermory on the Bruce Penninsula to Manitoulin Island (South Baymouth) In the winter the only way on and off Manitoulin Island is via a swing bridge, in Little Current. In the summer we also have the ferry to join people from the South, to the Island. It is about a 1.5 to 2 hour sailing time, and yes your cars go on as well. Also in the summer, for 15 mins, every hour, the swing bridge swings open ( hence the name, swing bridge)to allow for boats to pass in the North Channel. It is a narrow opening when it is open, and people must wait in the channel till it opens to go through in the port of Little Current! Look up Manitoulin Island or Google, it is a very beautiful natural place to visit, you won't be disappointed!
