Has anybody seen the wiring going up for Buena Vista Street and the Cable Cars?

I again want to hold out judgement but is anyone else out there thinking that the wiring going up on Buena Vista Street and other areas of DCA for the Cable Cars not a flattering look? I understand the appreciation for authenticity but the first few photos I've seen distract from the beauty of the area. Just my two cents.

Before getting flamed I just want to state this are first impressions.

I actually agree. I think it also takes away from photo opportunities with all the black running wires.

However, I think it's good that they're committing 100% to creating the atmosphere they want to convey.

Pariularily on BVS I don't think it will hurt pictures. Mainly because the wires are strung along the side ofr most of it. Also because the trees wil grow and fill in and block a lot of the view up high anyway.

I was looking at a picture toward the HBL and the forced perspective, fake backdrop looks kind of wierd with the lines going in front of it. While I haven't seen this firmly planned to take place, a lot of concept sketches show that area changed into a false front building. If those changes take place it will probably look very fitting there.

Mike, i agree with you, the "power lines" crossing BVS don't look so great right now,but i think once the land is complete it will add quit a bit of authenticity to the area.

I have faith that the Imaginears think about the overall look and will make it look amazing.

I agree..alot of these construction photos tend to look a bit..ehh..junky..of course there are vehicles and dug up dirt and hard hat folk etc., but I'm thinking when it's all done it will take you back to the idealized '20s and fit in perfectly.

I agree, it doesn't look so hot right now. I am thinking they will find a way to give it more aesthetic appeal! :goodvibes Regardless, I have to say I am extremely happy with the direction they are going with DCA as a whole. I love the new theming compared to the garish look it had previously. :thumbsup2 Cant wait to see it first hand!

I haven't seen the wires yet so can't comment but....

Several years ago the trolly in Toontown stopped running. CM's all said that was because of difficulty running them with people walking the same paths. How the heck are the trolly cars going to operate in DCA without the same problem?

I have not yet seem them in person but am wondering if the overhead wires will limit or interfere with parades?

Rumor is one of the Pixar Play Parade floats will not be used anymore, Ratatouile.

The wires are very high, so I don't know if it's a well based rumor or not.

Was there today and took at look at the wires. They are not completely in yet and it look slike there may still be some adjusting to do as there are still ropes in areas that don't belong. I don't think it is going to be a problem aesthetically. It is going to add to the charm of the area once it is all done.

As for the traffic, the problem with the Jolly Trolly in toon town was to fold. One, the streets where it travelled were much more narrow for the traffic and the second is that the trolly was small and most people didn't even notice it coming among the crowd.

I was concerned when I first saw the photos, but I really do think that things wont be as we see them in our mind. They will look as though they were meant to be there to tie into the theme. Knowing that the cable cars need the cables, it would be odd to have the cars driving down the street without them. NO ONE does anything like Disney. I have full faith they will make us all very happy in the end.

I haven't found them distracting in any way, personally. It'll be easier for everyone to get the feel of them when everything is completed. But like I said, for me, they already fit.
