Has anybody paid to Upgrade with BA at the airport?

Me and DH are off to California in 5 weeks time (yipee!) and we have booked economy class flights with BA in their last sale.

I'm beginning to think we should have just booked World traveller plus for the return flight but it's too late now as tickets have been issued.

I know that with Virgin you can pay at the airport on the day if they have seats available. Does anybody know if you can do the same with British Airways?

Congratulations on booking to go to California.

I've seen 'on the day' upgrades for sale with Virgin, but have never noticed them with BA - and I travel with BA more often (although never in economy with them ).

Why don't you ring them up? Good luck with it

I'm on the cheapest economy ticket going and there's no way of upgrading it in advance unfortunately.

I think I'll try the ticket desk on the day anyway.

We have asked before now, but frankly, the price has been so extortionate, it has been an easy choice to say no! However, to the best of my knowledge, there have never been PE seats available when we've asked - only Club, so you're talking a couple of thousand (x3!).

It's always worth asking though. Good luck!
