Has anybody ever NOT been asked to see birth certificate when boarding?

We're all set for our very first cruise, in two more weeks. Docs are filled out and birth cert's are in the box. Just wondering though, do they ask each and every person for this i.d. or do they sometimes skip over it?

We've been twice with 3 kids and were asked to see BC or Passport for all 5 of us when we checked in both times. We have passports for all of us, though, so it was not a problem!

Due to the nature of the terrorism threats, if somebody WASN'T asked for a birth certificate (which I think, everybody WAS) I don't think it's a good idea to post it on a public board for the world to see.
Just my thoughts.

We arrived at the ship at 5PM, three or four people met us at the bus and rushed us through the terminal and on to the ship. As much of a hurry as we were in, they still asked to see our birth certificates.

Yep, they want to see everybody's

They definately look at everyones before they let you board the ship!

Yep, looked at both me and the DH's DL and BC.

They look at birth certificate but you can get on the boat without a government id. My BIL forgot his license in his pocket at home and was let out of and back into the country with his Costco card. This was of course after his speech the night before - "Does everyone have their ids and birth certificates - you don't want to be the guy left behind on the dock."

We were on the land/sea pkg.....we stayed at the BC and did our cruise documents there at their cruise desk. I had all the documentation with me, and we were all together at the desk with the exception of our older DS, who was lying down in the room with a headache. We were told ours could be done at that time, but he would need to come down to the desk later to have his done...they wanted each person present, with appropriate ID. So, I would say they are pretty careful about this process.
