Harry Potter Vs. Twilight

I didn't bother to read through every post, but...
I didn't read Twilight, and because of the hype that's been thrown in my face (courtesy of the girls in my math and spanish classes), I don't plan on it. My bias leans way in the Harry Potter side.

Personally, I think Harry Potter got / gets more hype than Twilight. I think the HP series targets a wider fanbase as opposed to Twilight. HP can be read by everyone, and so can Twilight, but I think it's geared towards females in our generation.

JK Rowling has kept the Harry Potter series alive and thriving for around 9 years or so. Twilight is fairly new. Rowling had huge gaps in her releases of the books, where as, correct me if I'm wrong, but Meyer releases Twilight books at a faster rate.

Twilight's magic is all about, correct me if I'm wrong again, the essence of love. The magic in Harry Potter is about magic.

Twlight's magic if purely the magic of love I guess.

But I find Harry Potter's main subject is love, so the magic in the book is not only magic, but how love and hate can affect magic.

i don't really read both that well or anything but I prefer Twilight.

I think the whole baby thing was Stephenie couldn't think of anything better to write.
Breaking Dawn is possibly the worst book I ever read, I wanted to take it back to the bookstore.
It was like a horribly written fanfiction, it was pretty much equilivant to the epilogue of HP 7.
honestly.. Renesmee? WORST NAME EVER. It beats out Albus Severus.
I agree with you wholeheartedly about the whole epilogue in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, I was so dissapointed, I actually wanted Harry to die for his friends, as for Breaking Dawn I loved the book but the ending, like harry potter was to cookie cutter and that didn't really fit with the story at all.:confused3 I wonder why both of them do that, if it was to make the fans happy they certainly did not achieve.

I love twilight..

And I totally agree with what you two said.

I hated Breaking Dawn, with a huge passion.

I feel like Stephenie was trying to please the majority.

Whilst I wanted Bella to end up with Edward, I wanted one of them to die? Or just to be shocked by something. I never wanted Bella to turn into a vampire either.. but that is just me.

Stephenie just wanted a happy ending to please everyone.

I also feel HP7, was not the bloodbath I was expecting. Sure there were some deaths of secondary characters and unnecessary deaths, like that of Hedwig (I mean, what did that death prove?!).

The writers are trying to please the huge fan base they have built up over the series, not trying to create a fantastic finale to what I felt was a promising book series.

Twlight's magic if purely the magic of love I guess.

But I find Harry Potter's main subject is love, so the magic in the book is not only magic, but how love and hate can affect magic.

The love is different though.
Yeah, there's Harry/Ginny/Cho stuff, Ron/Hermione stuff, but I think it comes down to Lily's love for Harry that makes it different. That, and the love you have for your friends.

The love is different I agree. For Harry Potter it shows the love of family and the power of that bond.

The love in Twilight is the most powerful I have ever read. It is truely an undefined love and I have never read anything like that.

Harry Potter is such a broad story, set in a fantastical world that isn't filled to the brim with stereotypes.

Twilight is set in present day Washington. Not quite a fantastical place.

The characters are one-dimensional, have little development through the story, and are so stereotypical that the Disney Channel execs read the books and wondered why they didn't come up with the idea first.

ahh by far Twilight <3

the movie is amazing.you have to see both.
i'm going to buy the movie when it comes out on dvd/blu-ray.
