Harry Potter Vs. Twilight

Kristen Stewart kind of seemed to me like she was in pain. Maybe she was trying to mock Jasper/Edward Scissorhands.

well, i like both book series, but the harry potter movies dominate. except the 5th one, that one was terrible, i was REALLY disappointed. and i also was VERY disappointed with the twilight movie. oh, well i guess you could say that i am a book geek/freak. i enjoy reading about mythical things, not ponies and unicorns, but the intense mythical things, like twilight, harry potter, and also lord of the rings, and eragon! thats another movie i was disapointed with- eragon. i didnt read all of the lord of the rings books, but i really liked the movies.

Wow! me too. I did not like the fifth movie- my brother and dad kept asking me questions because they had no idea what even happen (never read the books, how dare they!) I didn't see the Twilight movie, but im pretty sure I wouldn't have liked it. Same thing with me about mthical books too. I've never read Lord of the Rings, but I love Eragon! Sadly I didn't like Brisingr as much as Eldest, but there is still the last book. I wish they never made Eragon into a movie... I get very upset watching that. Its amazing how they turned a couple month's journey into a weekend adventure of saving the country, huh? :P

"Harry Potter > Voldemort > Cedric Diggory= Edward. Therefore, Harry Potter > Twilight.
"

Pretty much pwned.

I read Twilight in 2006 and hated it. Hence, when the fad started, I had no clue as to why. I thought the plot was a tad predictable and the only characters that she really took the time to develop were Edward and Bella. Bella complained too much and Edward bored me almost to tears... No, he did not dazzle me.

I realized that Jacob was a werewolf when he was informing Bella about the Cullens. Because, um, hello... vampires and werewolves are like sworn enemies and he was talking about how Bella needed to stay away from the Cullens.

And if I'm not mistaken, didn't Stephanie Meyer say in the first book that none of the Cullens were the parents' biological children due to the fact that vampires were unable to reproduce? How in the world does this explain the child that they have in Eclipse?

So.... I obviously choose Harry Potter. :rolleyes1

Just because I am a twilight nerd, they have the child in Breaking Dawn.

Also, (some fellow twilight geek may explain this better than I) Bella was human at the time of conception and she therefore could "process" certain bodily functions.

Two vampires cannot produce, but it seems a human and a vampire can.
I'd be confused.

Someone can try and explain that better..

Hey Jan :)

I have read both series and i have to say i choose Twilight over Harry Potter. I think Stephanie's style of writing is much more luring.
Harry Potter is a lot more exciting, i have to agree because it has more going on in it. But Twilight has better characters and the story changes a lot.

I love both. I could NEVER choose.

They are both 2 different plot lines, 2 different styles of writing, 2 different countries, 2 different EVERYTHINGS.

I think the whole baby thing was Stephenie couldn't think of anything better to write.
Breaking Dawn is possibly the worst book I ever read, I wanted to take it back to the bookstore.
It was like a horribly written fanfiction, it was pretty much equilivant to the epilogue of HP 7.
honestly.. Renesmee? WORST NAME EVER. It beats out Albus Severus.

I love both series.
They are two seperate book series.
Completely different.
I don't think that you can compare the two.
They are not similar.

I love them both, but I just can't can't compare the two.

I agree with you wholeheartedly about the whole epilogue in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, I was so dissapointed, I actually wanted Harry to die for his friends, as for Breaking Dawn I loved the book but the ending, like harry potter was to cookie cutter and that didn't really fit with the story at all.:confused3 I wonder why both of them do that, if it was to make the fans happy they certainly did not achieve.

"NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU *****!!"

best.line.ever.

Nothing aganist twilight, but harry came to me when i was 7, and that was the start of my passoinate love affair with it. :D

Twilight movie was good, but I much prefer Harry Potter 1.

HARRY POTTER. Twilight cannot even compare.

The plot development in Harry Potter is simply remarkable.

Totally agree about Reneesme. Worst name you could ever give a child. Come on now. At least if you were going with the whole grandparent name comparing thing, go with the fathers. Carlie would be a way better name. xD

Yo dude like i said before no bashing! I dont mean to sound like a bizznatch or anything but i dont see you with 4 best sellers that were translated into like alot of langauges and turned into a movie! and Renesmee is because of her mother and mother-in-law!

** BREAKING DAWN SPOILER ** do not read if you dont want to be spoiled

I'll try ..

as they said on the lexicon .. Vampire males are fertile and can have half-human/ half-vampire children with humans. But this is because everything in the vampires bodies are frozen, so the teenage boystuff is included in that. And women vampires are the same as in everything in their bodies are frozen. So male vampires can reproduce with a female human but a female vampire cannot reproduce because everything in her is frozen. So there is the explaination but for more look at the TwilightLexicon

I'm allowed to bash.
This is a debate thread in a sense.
So I can say what I want.
And I've read the book, I know where the name came from. And it's crappy as hell. If I was like, k, naming my kid... my uncle's name mixed with... my boyfriends brothers named it would be like Gregdon.
It'd be bad. Not as bad as Renesmee, but i was just making a point.

And of course I haven't written four best sellers. Then again, I can't write worth crap, and i don't claim that I can. But just because it's a best seller doesn't make it a good book or written well.

Ehh Harry Potter I guess.

I tried reading the books twice and couldn't get into it. I liked some of the movies though.

Twilight looks like a joke.

Of course this is a debate thread and all opinions are WELCOME :D
If you disagree with someone don't read what they have to say but they
have the right to "bash." Which I really haven't seen much of anyways.

I also grew up with Harry Potter, and I have had the first book since the day it came out and I was like 7 or 8, so of course it is my first favorite, but now that I am almost seveenteen I am more into the romance <3! So they are both my favorites... I have decided I can't choose between one or the other.

I didn't bother to read through every post, but...
I didn't read Twilight, and because of the hype that's been thrown in my face (courtesy of the girls in my math and spanish classes), I don't plan on it. My bias leans way in the Harry Potter side.

Personally, I think Harry Potter got / gets more hype than Twilight. I think the HP series targets a wider fanbase as opposed to Twilight. HP can be read by everyone, and so can Twilight, but I think it's geared towards females in our generation.

JK Rowling has kept the Harry Potter series alive and thriving for around 9 years or so. Twilight is fairly new. Rowling had huge gaps in her releases of the books, where as, correct me if I'm wrong, but Meyer releases Twilight books at a faster rate.

Twilight's magic is all about, correct me if I'm wrong again, the essence of love. The magic in Harry Potter is about magic.
