Ok, so this is a topic that came out of our Twilight board, and I was really interested in you opinions. I am a huge fan of both of the series and I love them both for different reasons, is one better than the other? What do you think?

Harry Potter > any book.
For me.

But I don't really think any book is comparable to another.
They're all different.

I think books can be comparable, especially if they are in the same category. But you never know maybe it is to hard to compare.
Any more opinions?

Harry Potter >>>>>>>>> Twilight

Harry Potter = wonderfully written, relatable, complex characters, twists, great plots and under plots, foreshadowing, it's a literary masterpiece.

Twilight = Not as well written, harder to relate to characters, not as many twists, pretty predictable, other than Prego!Bella, decent writing.

Twilight, just because I don't like Harry Potter all that much.

I agree that it is hard to compare books too. For one thing- it depends on your personality and what you want to read about.

I would have to say my favorite are Twilight. I just finished reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban though lol.
The styles of writing are different, but they are both unique if you ask me. I just like Twilight better.

Harry Potter.
No questions asked.

Harry Potter = WONDERFULLY written, very complex story line. It's basically a work of art, especially since JKR kept the whole story line in her head while writing each book to make it come together so perfectly.

Twilight = Not so greatly written, predictable, simple plots.

Don't get me wrong, I do like Twilight, I just happen to like Harry potter more.

Harry Potter is definitely better written. Plot-wise I like them both equally but they both got a little repetitive in spots.

This thread is so pointless.
You can't compare these books..

I honestly don't think you can really compare Twilight and Harry Potter. They are two completely different books.

Twilight is a romance, Harry Potter isn't.

Twilight involves a girl that moves in with her father, finds out about vampires, falls in love with one and eventually becoming one.

Harry Potter involves a boy who loses his parents at a year of age, gets raised by his aunt and uncle, finds out he's a wizard and eventually has to fight off the guy that killed off his parents in the first place.

They are VERY different books with some similar details. This includes facts like them both having werewolves, etc. Both of the main characters in each of these books also learn that there's another 'world' outside the one they had believed to be the soul reality. Harry Potter didn't think wizards existed at first...and Bella thought the same about vampires. Other than that tho...the plot lines, as well as the writing styles and pretty much everything else...are completely different.

I don't think that either is necessarily better than the other. They're just....different. But I, personally, like Harry Potter better. Now, I DO LIKE TWILIGHT, but....I think I might like Harry Potter more.

*nods*

Twilight

Im going to say Twilight because i think Harry Potter can get really complicated especially the last two books and Twilight is something easier to read and not too heavy on the plot for a book and Twilight is something a teenager can relate to because we all know how it feels to fall in love but maybe not with a vampire lol

I like both for different reasons but I have to say Harry Potter is written a lot better but Twilight has a story line that keeps you interested longer.

well, i like both book series, but the harry potter movies dominate. except the 5th one, that one was terrible, i was REALLY disappointed. and i also was VERY disappointed with the twilight movie. oh, well i guess you could say that i am a book geek/freak. i enjoy reading about mythical things, not ponies and unicorns, but the intense mythical things, like twilight, harry potter, and also lord of the rings, and eragon! thats another movie i was disapointed with- eragon. i didnt read all of the lord of the rings books, but i really liked the movies.

Eh, I'll kind of disagree on that.
Twilight doesn't really even have an actual plot until like, three quarters of the way into the first bok.
This girl in my English class did an amazing book talk and was like 'FINALLY AT CHAPTER 18, PAGE ___ A REAL PLOT SHOWS UP!'
Honestly, first part of the book is just her whining and wallowing.

Harry Potter has so much plot going on.
