WOW!!!! That's what best describes the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!!! I was totally immersed!!! I was there for only one day with my family...we had to fit in in at the end of our vacation. We did the 5 day Disney cruise with 2 stops at castaway cay. I must admit, Disney has always been my favorite place to visit BUT Harry has definelty taken over!!
We stayed at Universal's Portofino Bay Hotel for the weekend and the place was really nice....although we did not get to hang around to much, Definetly have to go back and check the whole place out! We had the Harry Potter package so we got to the park nice and early....The first view of the castle was awesome...they really did a great job on it. We walked right through the castle and right onto the ride....I got a little motion sickness from the ride and I even had on a motion sickness patch!!!!
I'm pretty sure I did not get sick from the movement of the ride but from the scences going by too quickly. anyway I forced myself to watch even though I knew I would be feeling sick!! Was well worth it...the ride was very cool as well as walking through the castle and seeing all the cool stuff!! After the ride we got on line for Ollivanders and I'd say the line was probably 30 minutes long. I'm glad we got to go inside but i don't think it is worth it ...imo..if you have to stand on line for hours. The shop where you purchase the wands is extemly crowded!!!! After ollivanders we had reservations at the 3 broomsticks. I was very surprised to say that the breakfeast was very yummy. We had the pancake breakfeast and it was very good. Also had our first taste of butterbeer!!! Not a big fan but my kids enjoyed it. Alittle to sweet for me! Anyway, after breakfeast we used our fast pass quite a few times for Hippogriffs flight. This is a very short ride BUT we got some awesome shots with our camera of the castle and of course Buckbeak. After that my husband and kids rode the dragons challenge ride. They liked it alot, I just walked through the line with them as to see the triwizards cup. Very nice!! Being that there are only 3 rides....it was time for shopping. I got loads of goodies from all the shops (even 2 pink pygmy puffs!!) and I even forgot a few things but managed to get them online from universal. We stop in the owlery and got some postcards and had them stamped with the hogwarts stamp.....I must say if you do this beware....if the guy puts too much ink on the postcard it will take forever to dry!!!! Some of my postcards got a little smudgey but it's all good.
As per alot of the other posts be sure to check out everything!!!! There are little surprises everywhere. I loved the moving picture of Lockhart...I think they were in the window near ollivanders. The park does get crowded and with the heat it was pretty crazy!! Not too much shade going on there. I can't wait to go back....the scenery was breathtaking...and hopefully they will expand
