Hi Harry Fans!!
I know I'm chiming in late on this topic but I just finally had time to sit down and read it. I searched and read the really long thread and didn't see any mention of this so here goes:.......

BIG HOLE in STORY (unless I missed something)
1) The whole story revolved around Voldemort getting his hands on the prophecy, right?

2) The prophecy could supposedly only be retrieved by Harry, himself....right?

3) BUT...when other prophecy balls were smashed by a spell or other means, they "told their stories".....right?

4) Therefore, all Voldemort or anyone else had to do was break the ball, as it sat on the shelf, by any means....right?....making the rest pointless.

Granted, Voldemort was trying to keep a low profile, but it just seems like he could have sent any Death Eater in to do it and report back to him etc.... Besides...he showed up there anyway. It would have been less trouble to sneak in , break the ball and get out.

Any insight is welcome.
~~Also, I agree with those who think Petunia is a lot more connected to Wizardry, than it seems...she just knows too much and lets it slip every now and then.

~~I wonder the long term effect of Harry realizing that if he'd just founf the mirror, so much trouble could have been avoided and Sirius might not have died.

~~And, I love GROG's theory on sequels involving Harry's Auror training!!
Thanks for hearing me out!!
;)

Do you think maybe Voldemort didn't trust his Death Eaters to give him the full prophecy? I wonder if there was a way to hear it without breaking the ball. If so, he would want it intact so he could replay the prophecy over and over again.

yeah hole city, I'm still going to get book six at midnight when it comes out.

I agree with the person who stated that Voldemort would not trust his deatheaters to accurately tell him the prophecy or trust them with anything that could give them power over him. Voldemort wanted to hear the prophecy himself and probably in private. The only way for Voldemort to get his hands on the prophecy was to get Harry to get it and give it to his Deatheaters or get it himself. I do wonder why Voldemort did not get himself. It seems that there was not tight security at the Ministry of Magic with convicted felons getting into the Department of Mysteries at all hours of the night.

I can hardly wait for the next book.

He Who Must Not Be Named trusts no one -- he'd want to hear the prophesy himself, not have a Death Eater hear it and translate it for him.
