So excited...we have booked tickets for the Harry Potter Studio tour in London.:cool1:.....is anyone else planning on going?

We're going in July. I saw a programme about it on Sky today (although some of the interviews looked as is they were at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter) and am more excited than ever.

At the moment I'm knitting DD 18 a "Weasley Sweater" which I'm sure she'll want to wear for our visit (along with her Weasley wooly hat!) even if it is the middle of summer when we go.

I really want to go, but I am going to wait until the first rush has been and gone.

Corinna

We went last Sunday - it was excellent! It was really quiet, and not at all crowded, especially in the first couple of rooms. If you have any questions just ask, but if you are a fan of the films I am sure you will enjoy it! :)

I'm going on the 21st April, it's a treat for my DS13 and my DN17....they are both huge HP fans....my niece was reduced to tears when we went to WWHP in September:rotfl:.....they both don't know they are going yet....so it will be a BIG surprise.

I read that the tour takes 3 hoursm is this true? was it worth the money? and are you alowed to take photos? thanks:)

We are staying in London for the weekend, so taking them to see Shrek the Musical.

I really want to do this tour too, though will leave it for a while. I hope you have a great day Sam. I hope someone on here will post some pics :)

DS 16 is going in June as he's doing Film Studies at college. After the tour they'll be looking where certain film locations are around London :goodvibes

I really want to do this too ::yes:: don't know when but hope it won't be too far into the future.

Karen & Matt want to go, I am not sure, I think £28 is a bit OTT for myself.
Those that have been how long did it take? I am considering sitting in the car park for them. It would take an hour+ to get to my Brothers and back.

I think it's about 3 hours and you have to be there 45 mins before your allocated time. DS 19 was looking at the website last night as he's hoping to go when Uni finishes before he comes home.:goodvibes

So its an actual tour then? you don't just go around at your own pace?

Morning everyone

I went yesterday and really enjoyed it :thumbsup2

I took my time walking around and it took 2 hours 30 mins to complete the tour

Just before you go in you can rent out a digital audio guide which is basically an iPod Touch loaded with audio, video and maps; it costs £4.95 and is well worth it in my opinion (the actor who plays Draco Malfoy narates)

The tour is self guided so it is good to have some of the details pointed out via the audio guide

Overall I thought this was a great day out and the staff there were fantastic

For anyone with kids there is a kind of scavenger hunt for Golden Snitches that are hidden around the studios, you can pick up a clue sheet at the entrance

About half way through the tour, just as you head out to see the Privet Drive set, there is a refreshment area (this is where you can get butterbeer) and some outdoor, but undercover, seating

In the entrance lobby there is a large gift shop selling just about every HP souvenir you can think of and opposite that is a restaurant and a Starbucks

It's very different to the WWOHP in Orlando in that it concentrates on how the films were made, set design, special effects, costume etc rather that trying to emerse you in the theme

Hope this helps :goodvibes

I went to a preview a few weeks ago and it's AMAZING! A must do for any Harry Potter fan!

They stagger your entry which would hopefully stop it getting too crowded when it's really busy - before you go into the sets you watch a couple of behind the scenes films. A bit like how Disney stagger their queues on rides like Haunted Mansion.

Some of the sets are quite small so you might have to wait your turn to see them, but you can stay as long as you like. We were there about 2 1/2 hours (half hour of which I queued up to have a ride on a broom!) but as it was a preview it wasn't very busy.

Just had a look at the website Wayne under FAQ

We estimate the average Studio Tour to last approximately three hours, although there is no limit imposed on your time at the attraction. Only a small part of the Studio Tour is guided, so you can spend as long as you like viewing the authentic sets, costumes and props from the Harry Potter Film series. Remember that you can also spend time relaxing in our Studio Café, or browsing the unique Harry Potter gifts and souvenirs in our shop.

Hope that helps. I'm with you on the price.

Thank you.

I have never read the books, got bored after the first film, didn't follow the second (never seen the rest) but I enjoy visting WWoHP, maybe because its included free in our AP's, paying £28 to see this I think will just moan about the price, Karen & Matt would probably enjoy it more without my complaining.:rotfl2:

I have to go sooner rather than later then as I would LOVE to try butterbeer! :)
I have never read the books,

Wayne, you have to read the books, they are so much better than the films. ::yes:: I've read them three times now and still feel sad when I finish the last one, it feels like I've had to say goodbye to a friend.

Just to let you all know, we went on the tour on Friday....and WoW....it was well worth the money:banana::banana:

I'm not a huge HP fan and I haven't watched all the films but I thoroughly enjoyed the tour, I have loads of photos on my FB page.

I can also now say that I have had Butterbeer in the only two places it is sold in the world:thumbsup2......mind you, I thought id tasted different to the one we had in Universal.....still YUK though :rotfl:

I am so looking forward to do this tour which hopefully will be June when DH can walk further after his hip replacement.:)
