In looks like my 7 yr. old son and I might be spending one of our days at Universal with just the two of us. I can't do Harry Potter due to the motion, but am wondering if we can both go through the single rider line, he get on the ride, and I wait for him at the loading area of the ride.

The only time I've been on the ride there was a room where it looked like people were waiting, so I assume this is permitted. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm sure he'd like to go on it several times.

I don't see why not, unless there's a minimum age to ride alone. I don't think so, but could easily be wrong. He would of course need to be at least 48".

Absolutely :) They don't split you until the very end, and at that point you just let them know you're not riding.

As long as he's at least 48", he's fine. You can bail out just before he loads and you can wait in the child swap area or near the exit corridor. The ride is apx 5 mins long.
