Harry Potter Moviegoers

DD12 is going tonight with a friend and her mother at midnight at our local cinema-no 3D. DH and I will go this Saturday for 3D. Have fun everyone going tonight!

we won't get to see it till Sunday as my daughter is in MO. with her grandparents and doesnt come back until Saturday so we are seeing the 10am show at our Imax theatre, hoping the 10am on Sunday will be empty.

Oh, and I forgot to add that I saw 7.1 by myself. I left DS (who was maybe 7mos?) with my husband and his parents and had a couple of hours of alone time! It was weird (nobody to hold my seat when I needed to pee, nobody to make comments to) but it was still good, and probably kept me more focused on the movie.

Saturday afternoon for DH and I along w/ my sister and her best friend. We plan to see it a second time IMAX 3-D maybe next week!

I so wish I could go see it this week, no theatre in my area is showing it in 2d and 3d makes me ill (really it does, I had to leave pirates to throw up ).

Hopefully next week there will be some 2d around here.

Just got home from the midnight movie. It was PACKED. The movie was amazing. Very intense. Very good. Best of the bunch I think, although I do have a soft spot for the first one. I don't think anyone will be disappointed.

ETA....I paid $4.75 for a 20 ounce bottle of water!!!!!!! Disgusting.

ETA # 2: I can't imagine sitting through Part 1 and 2 on the same night...interested to see how Nikki made out.

Not long back from the theatre myself...DS and I loved it...cannot wait to go back on Tuesday for cheap night 3-D version with DH. Packed with 10 theatres sold out at the location we went to; lots of people dressed up including us. It was edge of seat experience for me, emotional ride for sure. Highly recommend it...

it was awesome! saw it in imax 3d, dont think you need to see it in 3d, although there are a few scenes where is was cool...love the imax theaters though! went to a 12 screen theater at midnight all shows sold out!

Saw the midnight showing last night with DGF and a friend of ours. It is worth stating that I'm generally not a Harry Potter fan (I don't have anything aganist it, per se, just not really my thing) That said, I found the movie very enjoyable. I agree with the comments that the humor was well placed, and enjoyable.

The friend we were with had actually seen a test screening of the incomplete movie some three months ago, and was able to offer us quite a bit of interesting insights in that regard.

Plenty of people were dressed up, most just having a good time, though a few who I'd argue took it to a point of being obnoxious and disruptive. A few were dueling in front of the concession stand, another placed a spell on the passerby who offered to take their picture, and yet another held out his wand defensively as he exited the bathroom. Generally, such individuals were a clear minority though. There were a few people yelling very obnoxiously during the movie (without giving away a spoiler, I'll just say they were yelling repeatedly the same thing that a certain villain said before a very quiet scene featuring Harry)... again, fortunately they were the minority.

We arrived at the theater about 10:15, and had only up-front seats to choose from. It was suspected that this would be the case, but at the same time, I'd never have been happy to be there as early as 8. So, DGF and I will likely go see another showing in a few weeks when the craziness dies down.

I had an outstanding time! Nothing beats AMC Dine In.

I enjoyed dinner and both movies. The theater itself definitely seemed to be behind schedule and a bit disorganized which surprised me. They started hanging up decorations at 8:30 (the Part 1 and 2 event began at 9) and actually made a few of us leave the theater after letting us in for a "meeting." I was a bit annoyed at that. Similarly, they had issues with my call button and that affected service. I'll let AMC know though.

The movies were both great, of course, and I enjoyed them a lot. The HP glasses for Part 2 were a ton of fun and so much better than normal 3D ones. I was a little fidgety at one point, but they did a half hour break between the two and that helped. Lots of fun and love the fact that the theater is so close to my new house.

Everyone was well-behaved, and surprisingly enough, there weren't that many kids there. In my theater, there was only one child. The rest were adults. When I peaked out into the lobby just before midnight, I saw a few kids and they were dressed up. However, they were actually the minority. Several employees told me that tickets are sold out through Monday. I'm wondering if more kids will be this weekend when parents are off from work. Overall though, it was great night!

We did a 9 / 12 showing of Part I and II at a regular AMC theater.
They didn't have us line up before. Everyone gathered outside the theater waiting for Transformers to end. The people coming out of Transformers had to walk out in the path left by everyone. One guy told his child to "watch out for those Harry Potter people. They are dangerous." That cracked us up.

They used a hole punch to mark our tickets and gave us our special glasses as we had our ticket punched.

We had a great audience! They clapped for the start of Part I and cheered when it ended. We had about a 30 minute break. When they hit the previews before Part II, things got weird. On the first preview, the projector broke. The crowd was good natured and cracking jokes. It took them about 20 minutes to get the problem fixed. There was a huge cheer when they got it fixed. We loved the movie and are sad the series is over. We have a group that has gone to dinner and opening night together since the start.

There were at least 8 lines for the midnight showing of the movie waiting outside the theater. There were already a lot of people, but we found four seats together in a decent spot. \o/

They played Harry Potter trivia while we waited, giving away free popcorn to the winners. Then there were wand duels. It was cute.

I'm so glad we saw Part I before seeing the second part. The movie just flowed for us. During the first movie people were getting up, but no one moved during the second movie. Our crowd was great - lots of reactions to the movies. It was so much fun to watch it with other fans. I totally enjoyed both movies, and pretty much cried in the parks that I thought I would.

That was easily the best of the 8 movies. Just fantastic.

I have to say it was also the best audience, and has convinced me NEVER to try the Dine in thing. As cool as it sounds, I was so happy to sit in a theatre for 2 and a half hours and be immersed in the world of Hogwart's. I wasn't thinking about what I was eating or had to order, or the other moviegoers making noise. It was just a sold out crowd on the Upper West Side of Manhattan watching Harry Potter.

I 100% agree. I think I would have had trouble remembering it without seeing Part I right beforehand.

You really should give it a try. It's suggested to arrive a little early to put your order in, but you don't have to as you can order any time during the movie if there is something you want. Popcorn refills are free and they bring that, candy, or any other item directly to your seat and place it on your table. There's no distraction. Similarly, there is no noise from dishes, etc. As Kevin said in his review, they have this figured out very well. It's a nice experience and I totally recommend it!
