Harry Potter Land?

Like the way they did the Stitch show -- except for TSM, I don't see anybody raving about WDW's new rides.

The new land was designed by the artistic director for the HP movies, and J.K. Rowling, as part of the contract, has to sign off on each piece. Obviously, WDW is a bit worried about this project, because there has been talk about re-theming Adventureland to hold onto the crowds.

It was originally scheduled for completion in Nov. 2009, but the last I heard was that it would open in Feb. 2010. The opening date hasn't been changed again for several months, so I think they're sticking to that one now.

Really?! You heard Feb 2010?!!? That's great! Where did you hear that?
( I had written them 6 months ago, and they could not give me any kind of estimate as to when it would open )

So as a summary they are putting in 1 new mega attraction and the rest is just re-painting existing stuff and lobbing a castle in. Triffic.

...it actually just says that the castle ride will be "The Wizzarding World's SIGNATURE attraction"...not that it will be the Only one. There very well may be other rides in the works but they haven't told about them yet. Possibly in the Forbidden Forrest? Or not. BUT it doesn't say the ONLY attraction...just the Signature one...

Disney will be Disney & Universal will be Universal.. I enjoy both :thumbsup2 and.......all I know is

I cannot wait for Harry Potter to finish!

I think it is going to be fantastic!

so let me get this straight. Within all the hype over this new land, they have told you about the signature attraction, told you about the shops, told you about the restraunts, told you about the theming, told you about the re-theming of DD's and flying Unicorn yet decided for no apparant reason to not mention any other attractions.

Now, is this likely, or is it far more likely that everything has been mentinoned.

They're saving the clowns, balloons, & pony rides for opening day surprise!
melly wanna tea-cup ride??

Melly, If you are saying there has been no mention of other RIDES, that is correct. There has not been any other RIDES mentioned YET.

However, you are not correct when you say there are no other ATTRACTIONS. The castle is an attraction, the shops are an attraction, the restaurants are an attraction. In other words, any thing that brings people to a certain element in that theme ,including the theme itself, is an attraction.

When people go to eat at Mythos they are ATTRACTED to the food and ambience, not because of a thrill ride.

There are some days I go to the Studios and never go on a ride, but I am ATTRACTED to the theming and ambience of New York, Hollywood, Amityville, etc...

I hate to debate on symantics, but I feel you are speaking down to people and goading them into an argument.

If you have anything else to say that is intelligent, I will commend you for it.

Otherwise, i will adhere by these words from Richard M. Nixon :

"I refuse to get in a battle of wits with an unarmed person".

Have a good day !! :)

Judging by what I have seen being built, if I had to take a guess you would be right in saying that is all that will be done.

I also think most the "hype" as you call it is from Harry Potter fans who would love to be emersed in this type of experience. Like fireandice said its all basically a ride if you enjoy the theme.

I never could get into Harry Potter but a new ride is great...2 new rides between both parks, and yes it is something "new" to see.

well said, FireandIce.

i couldn't have said it better.

i like your positive thinking.

we know that whatever Universal builds, it will be very enjoyable!
Parry Hotter fans will be thrilled.

Thats very tired and old and using it shows a distinct lack of wits because of this. A truely witty person would create a saying not regurgetate one from many decades ago.

Does anyone know if Universal has released any info on when fire and ice will be closed?
We are planning a trip thanksgiving and were going to go to IOA just to do fire/ice, hulk, and spiderman.
We know space mountain will probably be closed. If fire/ice is closed, my boys will be very unhappy!

No official word, but considering how close to 2010 Thanksgiving is, I would bet on it being closed.

:thumbsup2 perfectly well put!

Sometimes people just need to stop people from being happy I suppose...

Anyway, we're moving down to Kissimmee at the end of the year and I was going to apply with Disney as a CM, but I'm seriously considering begging Universal to let me be a part of this...

And you'll never find a bigger Disney fan...honestly, since the year WDW opened, I've been addicted! (Yes, I was there!) :cutie:

I'm just way too excited about this addition!

I know many that are part time CM's and part time TM's.
when you move down, work both parks.

the benefits at UO are pretty decent i am told.
the motherland cut back some perks but still have decent benefits also.

congratulations on moving to K Town!!
i like Old Town over that way, especially on a saturday night.

Well as a huge HP fan AND Universal fan I can't wait for HP land to open:cool1::cool1: It looks amazing!!!

MY DD, also a huge fan, and I are planning a cruise and 7 day trip to Universal in Nov 2010. We wanted to make sure HP land would be open AND the weather woudn't be so dang hot :rotfl2:

Man, that humidity gets to me!! I thought we got bad humidity in Southern Ontario but central Florida is unbelievable :scared1:.....

anyway, back on track....Yahoo for HP and Universal!!!. I know that Universal is going to do an AMAZING job of theming for us:lovestruc:lovestruc

Is this suppose to open in 2010? Anyone have any info. on what's going to be there?

My friend is a certified Universal TA and got this email today when she inquired about HP:

"Unfortunately a grand opening date has not been set. We hope everything will be ready by early 2010, but please keep in contact for more current information."

She basically told them that her customer (me) wouldn't book until we got confirmation on the dates. I'm planning on going May 26 - June 7, so here's hoping that HP is open!

As a longgggg time WDW visitor (first time in 1972), HP fanatic and new Universal lover - I can't wait to see HP World Open no matter whether it has one new ride or 5.

Both Disney & Universal can co-exist with fans for both or just for one but let's try and remember that they are both great parks and everyone has their own opinions and not belittle what others think!

We can only go during March break, so I emailed them saying that going down to Universal at that time hinged SOLELY on HP being opened. And they pretty much told me the same thing. I'd be happy with a SOFT opening myself, I don't even care about "official opening date" ...
