Harry Potter film series

ITA:thumbsup2 Movies 5 & 6 were my least favorite because I felt so letdown on what I thought would be the most "exciting" scenes. In particular, in Half Blood Prince, the scene in the tower with Dumbledore.

In the book the battle between the Death Eaters, especially Fenrir the werewolf, vs Remus, Bill Weasley, etc was amazing....they left all of it out of the movie?? To me it would have been a wonderful action scene for the movie and tied things in for the next movie. Same with Dumbledores funeral.

I know they can't include everything but I do feel as though the later movies have left out a little too much and focused on things less important.

Was that in HBP or DH?

When the Death Eaters invade Hogwarts in Half-Blood Prince, there is a large fight with students and some Order members. It is during that fight that Bill is attacked by Fenrir.

In the movie series, we don't even meet Bill until Deathly Hallows, Part 1, and by that time he's already been attacked.

I love, love the books. I have them on my iPod and listen to them all from 1-7. Then I switch them up and do the odds and then evens, etc. I just love the consistency of most of the plot lines throughout the series. I really do need to find a new series, though -- my husband thinks I'm nuts.

But I'm "eh" about the movies. The parts they leave out, I understand. Too much, and side stories, etc. But what I don't understand is why they find it necessary to completely change the story line. Half Blood Prince was my least favorite, particularly the Burrows Burning and subsequent chase of Bellatrix.

Then again, the scene in the coffee shop at the opening of HBP where Harry picks up a waitress started me off with a bad taste for the whole movie. And the fact that they didn't have Harry paralyzed under the invisibility cloak (which I think is the only reason he didn't defend Dumbledore on the Tower in the book). And, and....

I approached DH Part 1 with the expectation of hating it as badly as HBP, but was surprised at how much I liked it. On first blush it seemed to keep pretty close to the story, and the only changes that were made were to make up for the poor info the previous movies gave them.

Although, I'm still disturbed by the lack of info they have even at the end of Part 1. Oh well, I'll go back to my own perfect world, where the little pink fairies sing and dance.
