Harry Potter Book 7 *SPOILERS*

I have all 3 UK versions of Book 7

Children's
Adult
Deluxe

from what I can tell, the only difference in the books is the covers. The adult version is much more subdued. The deluxe has more of a "painting" look to it, the pages have a gold edge, and there is an attached bookmark.

Also, I don't have it with me to be sure, but I think the Deluxe version might be missing the chapter artwork.

I've never noticed any difference in the actual words.

I haven't had time to read all this thread so I don't know if this has been mentioned or if its totally just a rumor. A friend of mine was told by somebody else that there are two versions of the latest HP book, one in the US and one overseas. She said the US version is the childrens book and the one in Europe is the adult version and it includes material about a more intimate relationship between some of the characters. This sounds like it can't be true to me but I know someone on here will know!

Thanks!
My oldest DD is an illustrator and was very interested in the different illustrations for the Harry Potter books.

The UK has a children's and adult's version, but as others have posted, the major difference in the children's and adult version is the cover art. The thought was that adults wanted to read the book, but were embarrassed to be seen reading a children's book. That was why the 'adult' version came out in the UK. The text is the same, but the cover art is simple and more 'adult' styled.
The US has only a children's version. The difference between the American and the UK version is some of the language in the UK version was changed to what they thought would make it more understandable to Americans.

SueMN is correct. Here is the cover of the adult version of HP&Deathly Hallows:

I don't know why anyone would bother buying the adult version as the title is right there bold as day so everyone would know what you're reading, anyway. It's not like the title is in small type so people wouldn't recognize it immediately. Maybe folks just think that people won't recognize the cover, so they won't look at the title. As for me, I'm always wondering what people are reading, so I always look at the title! lol!

Maybe that's why the rumor about there being a more 'adult' version started.;)

a little bit off topic, but not too much....does anyone know where to find good Harry Potter fan fiction? I love reading that stuff, and haven't had a chance to look for it yet, and wondered if you guys know of any good sources for it.

Actually, they sell a deluxe version in the States too. I have the regular and deluxe version for several of the series, including Deathly Hallows.

Harry is Here!!!!

We just adopted a shelter-bound kitten, and with all my HP-obsessing of late, just had to name him Harry Potter! or, according to my kids, more properly named "Harry James Potter [our last name]"

He's so cute!:wizard: :cat: If he were a girl, I voted for "Luna" or "McGonagall".:thumbsup2

Try www.darkmark.com for some. I'm pretty sure there's fan fiction on their site. If not, check out their message boards as someone will be able to point you into a good direction!

Aww.

I'm planning on getting a puppy when I move out. If I get a girl I'm planning on naming her Lily or Luna, and if a boy James, Ron, Harry or Sirius.

I've been watching Petfinder for a puppy and lemme tell ya, I keep coming across LOTS of animals with Harry Potter related names! Must be lots of fans working with the shelters and rescue groups!

I was almost tempted by a cocker spaniel named Padfoot a few weeks ago! LOL

Thanks for all the info on the different HP versions! I'll share this info with my friend when I go to work tomorrow!

Missy, I don't have time to read fan fiction (a few lines of DIS boards is my daily guilty pleasure! :rolleyes1 ), but I DID glance at a few submissions on mugglenet earlier this month.

One I recall started with the Draco/Harry first meeting..." 'You don't want to go making friends with the wrong sorts, Potter. I can help you there', said Draco, extending his hand." In the fan fiction, Harry takes Draco's hand and sets off on this alternative story line. Great concept!:wizard:

PoohJen - we want to see pix of Harry!!!!

Deathly Hallows was excellent! Hope they are able to capture so many of those memorable scenes properly in the last movie! Like...Mrs. Weasley battlling (telling off) Bellatrix...

Here he is! Although he's not too cooperative sitting for pics just yet ;)
Harry James Potter ______ (Harry Kitten for short) will do his namesake justice; he is inquisitive (wants to explore EVERY room in the house), nocturnal (wants to play in my bedroom in the wee hours; remember Harry and his moonlit Invisibility Cloak wanderings?), brave (just jumped from our second floor landing into the 1st floor living room! or would that be impetuous - Harry had that too!) and such a cutey!

Oh, Jen ... he is sooooo cute!!!! Absolutely adorable and already living up to his namesake, eh? Enjoy!!!! Thanks for posting pix!
