I just finished reading all four of the Happry Potter books for the 3rd time!!! Does anyone know when the 5th book is due to be released?? I hope soon!!! Thanks for any info!! Megan

The last I heard not before late next year at the earliest...J.K. Rowling is still writing it. :)

Late next year??!! I don't think we can wait that long! DH & I have read all 4 - twice each. They just keep getting better and better. Boy, the 4th book was -- WOW!!
We have just about worn out the 1st movie and are waiting for Nov 15th for the 2nd movie.
We were not really interested to start with, but DD told us we had to read the 1st and we were instantly hooked!

Poohstyx

Oh Boy! Now you know this is going to get all of those people who think J.K. Rowling is an agent of the devil riled up, don't you?

Honestly, it's gotten to the point (with some my friends) where you don't talk about politics or Harry Potter.

Steph, I think it's okay around here.

Lot's of the same people who think Harry Potter is about the devil also don't have Disney real high on their list

I also can't wait for the 5th book.

I was NOT a Harry Potter fan when the first movie came out. Someone that DH worked with let us watch his copy of the first movie...after the movie, I went out and bought the books! They are great...very addicting! :)

I have heard that it will not be until next year at the earliest. I heard the cutiest story about Jo Rowling. Evidently she was touring a children's cancer ward in London and a young cancer patient asked if she would tell him the name of the next book. Since the name of Book four, Goblet of Fire, was kept under strict secrecy, the young patient did not expect an answer. Ms. Rowling decided to tell the young man that the next book would be called "Order of the Phoenix." You really have to admire Ms. Rowling both for her creativity and in this case her compassion.

just a quick note that she has complete ALL 7 books already!

It is just a manner of when they will be put out for publishing.

I read and heard that she had finished the 7th book in the spring.

I am anxiously awaiting! I loved the books and the movie too!

Holycow

It is my understainding that Jo Rowling has not completed all 7 books but has a story line or detailed outline prepared that describes what is going to happen to each of the characters in the series. Ms. Rowling has shared these notes with the actors playing the parts of Ron, Harry, Snape and others.

This is common in the industry. For example George Lucas evidently had the stories outlined for all 9 Star Wars episoded when he came out with Episode IV, A New Hope.

I am totally waiting in anticipation for the 5th book too! I will settle for the "Chamber of Secrets" movie coming out in November though, but I don't know how much longer after that I can stand to wait for the next book!

I watched an interview with J.K. Rowling where she said she has actually written the very last chapter of the last book, kept in a very secret location of course!

The lady at the book store said February. That was yesterday...

Thanks so much for all the info. I hope the next book comes out sooner than next year! I also can't wait for the next movie.

Our family is also anxiously awiting book 5.....DH has read the first 4 aloud 3 times to the boys...and I've read the series twice....

I also had heard that the outline for all 7 books has been written but not the novel itself....It's been said that she has been so busy doing pubicity stuff that she hasn't had the writting time that she did with the first few....

I heard the same thing..outline of all the books are done, but books not written.

What I really wanted to say is my DH does this too! We started when my daughter was 5. We have all the books on CD to listen to on vacation drives. DD even learned to read the books on her own at 5 becuase daddy wasn't reading fast enough :p

I lost count of the number of times we've read each one!

Chamber of Secrets is in front of me know, our latest choice.

My now 4 year old knew all the characters names at 3!

I read the first book to my son when it was first published, "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" (that's the original title). We instantly fell in love with it and it was our secret; this magical world and the new terminology. It was a special bond between the two of us, something we could talk about that nobody else understood. I feel kind of sad now when everyone says they've read it. It's hard to explain but sometimes when something becomes so large it's not as special anymore.

Another one anxiously awaiting the next book
We'll have to be satisfied for the new movie for now
SIGH.....

Since we haven't even heard a tentative date for the book yet
I would assume it isn't anytime soon
SIGH...

Well my sources tell me that bookstores are prepared for a JULY release of book 5!!!!
I don't think this confirmed but it is what I have come across...

I have also read that Ms. Rowling has the last chapter written. Some of the actors in the movie have been briefed as to what happens to or is revealed about their characters in the later chatpers. Unfortunately, these actors are sworned to secrecy.

My cousin keeps telling me to read the series, but just haven't gotten around to it. I suppose, by the time I'm ready, the 5th book with be out. LOL...

when the books first came out, i wanted nothing to do with them. only cuz i thought they were kid's books. boy was i wrong!!! i finally got around to reading them soon after book 4 was released. i loved them!!! i've gotten my fiance hooked on them too. but i made him read the book before we saw the movie so that he would appreciate it a little more. he didn't have time to read it, so i read it out loud to him at night or on road trips. we have just started on book 4. some of those words are hard to pronounce!!! we can't wait for the next movie and the next book to come out!!!!
