Harry Potter Book 5 Question (spoiler)

OK I am almost halfway into Book 5 and I really want to know when this "major character" is going to die. Do I have to wait until the end or will I know soon?

BTW, I am just to the point where Mr. Weasly has been attacked. This book is great but I really want to be let in on the big mystery soon!
