Any other DVCers looking forward to it? This may not be news to a lot of you, but it is for us. My family loves Harry Potter, and the concept art for this new attraction looks really good. We haven't been to Universal in years - we don't care much for the big coasters and the rest of IOA isn't a draw for us. We usually get to our villa and burrow into WDW for the duration. But HP will definitely get us to venture off property.

I wish Disney had gotten this one. http://www.universalorlando.com/harrypotter

We are huge Harry Potter fans and can't wait to visit the new park. I too wish Disney had secured this one.

I am a big HP fan and really looking forward to the new attraction. Actually this works out pretty good because as big a WDW fan I am, I am even getting a little tired of going to the WDW parks. I see future visits being us staying in our DVC home and branching out more to attractions outside Disney.

We can't wait for it and hope it opens on time as we want to go in early spring '10.

We don't consider a visit to WDW complete without a couple days at Universal. It is great fun and I love some of their stuff.

Favorites:

-ET
-Spiderman
-Mummy
-Jaws
-Mythos Restaurant
-Jurrasic
-Popye (best river ride I've been on)
-Hulk (Wow)
-Men in Black
-spiderman character breakfast
-soon, Harry Potter World
-Express Plus Passes!

Well we tend to go to a Universal park for one day every couple of trips. ( Otherwise, like you, we don't even venture into Orlando at all). And 2010 will coincide with our next trip and you can be SURE we'll explore the Wizarding World!

The new HP attraction will bring us to that park!! We never venture off WDW property, but we will once this new park attraction opens. I do wish they would've had Diagon Alley instead of Hogsmead, but I 'll take whatever HP attractions they are making!!LOL

I just talked to my sis - we're planning a DVC trip with her family in 2010. Her girls are Grade-A Disney Princesses, but they'll LOVE the new Harry Potter attraction. We actually discussed staying a night or even two in one of the Universal hotels (non-DVC weekend nights). And that's a real first for us. I'll have to start watching the Universal hotel board.

We were hoping for Diagon Alley, too.

Next trip we're going over to the Space Museum. I got a coupon for a discount on tickets when we went over to a Nationals spring training game. It's good until the end of the year.

yea but the annual pass will definitely go up....

-Express Plus Passes - I though now this was only for sale.
or you have to stay at a Universal hotel - FOLE.

have I been missing something?

Express Plus is a seperate paid item, or free for resort hotel guests. Either way it is sooooo worth it to not have to run around getting fast passes or stand in long lines. In the off season, they are as cheap as $15 per day.

I realize it's not for everyone, but I sure love it.

We will finally betray the mouse when they open this. Not sure if it will be ready by September '09, doubt it. But sis and I may make a special trip in 2010 just to see it.

We'll be heading to Universal for the first time when Harry Potter opens. I think we'll stay at a Universal hotel to get that front of the line pass. Maybe on a weekend so we don't use up weekend points... Gotta plan ahead!

Some interesting ideas about avoiding the high-point DVC weekends by staying on-property at Universal. Our kids are not big Potter fans, but they prefer Seuss Landing to Toontown Fair, and they love getting a chance to see Barney. This will provide another incentive for people to broaden their Orlando experience.

We enjoy Universal just as much as we enjoy WDW. We go often, and also save points by going on the weekends. The parks are just as well themed and the Universal resorts are fantastic! They are operated by Loews hotels and offer much better service and amenities than many of the WDW deluxe resorts. We are Loews First platinum members, which means I get upgraded to a suite for the price of a standard room, and I still get the AAA discount. Disney can't even touch that deal! Getting Express Pass access free with your room key is worth the cost of the room! We don't have to get up early and deal with the masses at rope drop, or rush around getting fastpasses. It's a whole different way to vacation.

DD and DS are huge HP fans, but they are teens now and they think the idea of a Potter land is really, really stupid. They hate most of the movies because they feel the movies ruined the stories. They have read the books multiple times and they know all of the mythology much better than I do.

I'm glad Disney didn't get Potter. I don't think they would have done as good a job with it. Lately they haven't been willing to invest the money they need to in order to do things right. Look at DCA, WDS, and DAK.

Maybe DVC could build next to US. Harry Potter Villas? :lmao:

We'll be planning our first trip to US after Harry Potter opens, and were also thinking we should stay at a Universal resort for the front of the line access, probably on a weekend to save those DVC points!:thumbsup2 Looks like it's going to be a lot of fun!

I think that it's a great idea to stay at Universal over the weekend and save the points, then go to Disney. As soon as HP opens up -- that's going to be our plan! The only thing that comes close to Disney in my daughter's eyes is Harry Potter! pixiedust:
