Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey Downtime

I have a friend who is married to a very knowledgeable person at the park and the main reason that FJ goes down is because of "accidents" from people that either eat right before or drink too much butterbeer :lmao: before getting on the ride or just can't handle the effects - if you know what I mean. My DH got on it the first time first thing in the morning without any food, just coffee because he has a tendency towards certain types of motions (he can't handle ToT) and he was fine.

When an "accident" happens the whole ride needs to be completely re-set up because of the technology of the ride especially if it happens during certain portions of the ride. It happened when we were there last April and we only waited about 20 minutes in line (we has ridden it 2x before without any delays) and the announcement over the intercom came every 5 minutes telling us of the delay and the TMs were very helpful in keeping us entertained.

I wonder if the Forbidden journey does their refurbishments at night in stages instead of having to close the ride down during the day.

A lot of popular rides do their refurbishments at night to avoid having to close during the day. ALL attractions go through normal maintenance testing and checklists every night (Doom gets climbed every night), but updates to big attractions happen overnight, such as Hulk being re-painted, it happened overnight to difference sections of track. I'm sure FJ's ride vehicles get attention every night and inspected, and certain vehicles are scheduled for their "annual", where every piece of the vehicle is taken apart, inspected, and put back together.

When I was a trainer at Doom, our towers would go down for annuals as well, but since the ride vehicles are somewhat "permanently" attached to the towers, all the seats, harnesses and locking mechanisms were taken apart, but the frame of the vehicle was left on the tower. We would do this during a slow season and we'd run with 1 tower while the other 1 had this being done, then it would switch in a couple days.

I never had any downtime the half dozen or so times I've ridden FJ, although I wish it would in some parts of the queue so I wouldn't have to feel rushed.

I definitely feel like Rockit had some downtime pretty often but that queue is absolutely nothing to write home about.
