Harry and Meghan Netflix documentary

Agreed - I used to be a big fan of Harry and even though I now think he’s a moron, I would read a book about the relationship with his mom and his experiences growing up. I would love to hear stories of his childhood and she took him and Willy out of the palace and had them experience “normal” childhood experiences. I don’t care to hear him rant about how how he lost his virginity in a field and that he’s upset that Camilla turned his old and no longer needed room into a dressing area.

i think it would have been fascinating if the book had provided insight on what differences occur within the family/'the firm' in being raised as the 'spare' vs. the heir. i mean as the spare you are on call in the tragic event something happens to the heir up until they provide their own heir so i would assume you receive much of the identical education and training up to a point-and wouldn't it be interesting to know if he had a sense of relief when william and kate's children took him far out of the spare zone.

According to Harry, the differences are a smaller, forgotten bedroom that later gets turned into a dressing closet & IKEA furniture for him & his seal-princess-bride as opposed to priceless antiques.

I have shared parts of this story before, but one detail I left out. It reminds me of all the petty stuff in the book.

My own royal family is incredibly boring. 2 decades ago one of our (lower ranked) princesses married a very toxic guy who isolated her from the family, and turned her against them.

At one point when the relationships were at an all time low, she gave an interview where one of the things she revealed was...

The crown prince and his brothers flipped their fingers to the Dutch public on our national day when they were driving by the crowds in the carriage. Why did no one know? Because they held their hands below the window, so no one could see.

It was such a weird little detail, that this became one of the things the press focussed on. Together with the story that she thought the Queen had put a microphone in the wall when she came for tea. (She got divorced after 6 years and came back to the fold)

The first and worst story (untill now) that came out of Harry's book is the physical fight, and if the book hadn't been leaked, from the moment that moment till the book's release next week could have been very very bad for William.
However, with all the other weird and dumb stories coming out it totally shifts the perspective. If we have had 1 full week with 'oh my God, William is an abusive monster' then that would stay the big thing. Now that everyone is laughing their heads of because of him getting his rump smacked, his frostbitten willy and the seal-serenade, that fight gets less and less attention.

With how the British press and tabloids view Harry, we could have expected them giving negative reviews. But with what is in Harry's book there is not a lot of effort needed.

Harry really is an idiot. Blabs in his stupid book about allegedly killing 25 Taliban fighters while serving in the British Army...meanwhile, he also has complained in the past about how King Charles won't pay anymore for his security. And in blabbing about killing Taliban people, he thus dramatically increases the need for security for his immediate family because he's just put his wife and children's lives at risk.

Oh...and his big brother was mean to him this one time. duh, hello, how many brothers have kicked each other's butts while growing up?

Oh...and don't forget how he told the entire world in the book about what his and his brother's genitals look like.

The twitter commentary is entertaining.

One more detail we didnt know about taking drugs. When he did mushrooms it was with friends at Courtney Cox house while she was away travelling.

US weekly also has a copy of the book now:
Harry writes that his friend had the idea to stay at the actress' home while she was "traveling, on a job, and didn’t mind if we crashed at her place." Harry admits in the excerpt that he is a "Friends fanatic," and the "idea of crashing at Monica's was highly appealing and amusing."

According to the prince, Cox did end up coming home, which left him "very confused," though he says the actress insisted there was "plenty of room" for everyone to stay.
Referencing Cox's Friends character, Monica Gellar, and Chandler Bing -- Monica's husband on the show, played by Matthew Perry -- Harry writes, "I was still confused because she was Monica, and I was a Chandler. I wondered if I’d ever work up the courage to tell her. Was there enough tequila in California to get me that brave?"

The Duke of Sussex also claims that while at Cox's home, he spotted "a huge box of black diamond mushroom chocolates" that were "for everybody" at the apparent house party. "My mate and I grabbed several, gobbled them, washed them down with tequila," he writes.

From US weekly;

Harry Took Laughing Gas While Meghan Was in Labor
The Duke of Sussex wrote that Meghan "laughed and rolled her eyes" after he "took several slow, penetrating hits" of laughing gas when she was in labor with son Archie in 2019. He subsequently joined his wife as she bounced on a giant purple ball. When the nurse tried to administer the laughing gas to Meghan as her contractions continued, Harry wrote "there was none left" for the actress.

Is this a direct quote in what he said in the book? WHY did he have to say it like that??? lol

This fool.
I must admit, this one was harder to get a hold off. It is also mentioned in a full list of details on Express.co.uk, but the quotes used by US Weekly are not published (yet) by other news outlets with a copy of the book. But yes, because the outlet puts the words between quotes, I think it's in the book like this.

It also can make a difference if US Weekly has an English copy of the book or a translation from the Spanish version. Like with the virginity story, some outlets say a**, others say rump.

But... apparently Harry is now speaking American English and not British English anymore. The Times, who is referring to a US publishing source about the process of making the book:

The source also described how the book had to be translated from American English into the British tongue.

“It was extraordinary. A member of the royal family describing everything as ‘awesome’ and using phraseology like: ‘We had gotten ourselves into a difficult situation’ — we had to go through the whole manuscript to make it sound like he was actually English.”

The source said: “It’s a very wellwritten book which is both heartfelt and convincing. Much more so than the Netflix documentaries which can feel repetitive and one-dimensional.

US Weekly brings more juicy stuff, you won't believe this, but: The Queen thought Meghan's first curtsey was so good.

“We entered the large front sitting room and there she was. Granny. The monarch. Queen Elizabeth II,” Harry wrote in his debut book — which will be released on Tuesday, January 10 — of the 2016 meeting. “Standing in the middle of the room. She turned slightly. Meg went straight to her and dropped a deep, flawless curtsy.”

Following the meeting, Harry penned that “everyone complimented Meg on her curtsy, ”praising how it was “so good” and “so deep” despite not having an advanced tutorial prior.

Moments before the monumental moment occurred, Harry penned that Ferguson, 63, asked Meghan if she knew how to curtsy. The Duchess of York “demonstrated once” and the former Tig blogger “imitated her.” Harry noted that they didn’t have time to practice more since they “couldn’t keep Granny waiting.”
As the trio walked into the Royal Lodge in Windsor, England, to greet the queen, Ferguson and Harry offered Meghan more tips on how to properly address the monarch.

And... Meghan was wearing jeans when she met the Queen for the first time.

They were already on their way to have lunch at the Royal Lodge, when they heard the Queen would be there as well. So, no time to change.

When they entered the manor, Harry saw his “granny” was wearing a “brightly colored dress and matching hat,” which was vastly different from his wife’s casual getup. “I could see Meg regretting her jeans and black sweater,” Harry wrote in his book. “I was also regretting my shabby trousers. We didn’t plan, I wanted to tell granny, but she was busy asking about Meg’s visit.”

To think how gracious Fergie was helping Megs with the curtsy and giving her tips. She was later rewarded with a baby announcement at her daughters wedding. 😤

Harry will be on Stephen Colbert's show on Tuesday. This is going to be fun, I hope they talk about his frostbitten todger.

I wonder what Harry is thinking now and if he is shocked at peoples reactions. I wonder if he thought people would be more sympathetic towards him.

The book makes me uncomfortable for some reason. I guess I don't like how it feels like he is throwing people under the bus. Those private family moments good and bad, ( like King Charles and the teddy bear, the fight with William, the details about Kate etc.) should remain private. I imagine they all feel exposed and uncomfortable. It just isn't right, unless he got permission from them, which I don't think he did.

I think Harrys problems go so far back, my feeling is that he never got over the fact that he is "the spare." It seems he always felt second best. I can understand that and it must have been very difficult growing up in Williams shadow and feeling unimportant, while William was front and center being groomed to be King. There was one excerpt that said William and Charles could not be on a plane together to protect the royal lineage. Harry said something like, "nobody cared about how I traveled." It must have really damaged his self worth as a child, everyone fussing over William. Even though I can sympathize with him, I don't think the book was the way to go unless he wrote it strictly about him and his thoughts and feelings and not about everyone else's private life that he was privy to.

We could see how he feels in the Stephen Colbert show. If that interview is not pre-recorded, it will be taped on Tuesday in the afternoon New York time. By then the British/European press will have written their verdicts.

If Harry is wise, he stays away from the internet.
We can probably tell by his body language.

Can i say, that 2 things are weird about the announcement. 1. That the British press hasn't picked it up yet. 2. Stephen is in a very weird vibe. He seems annoyed, a bit nervous or distracted. Maybe with that all his questions had to be discussed on forehand and no improv? Or it's about the jokes he made about the royal family in the past?

Shall I do another bit of news? Yes, I have been posting so sparingly :P

The book is dedicated to Meghan, his children and his mother, but did you know there is also a list of people Harry thanks.

Harry's helpers
(Apparently it's a dozen, but the Telegraph only reports on 9)
- A Californian energy practitioner
To keep him physically and mentally strong.
- A chiropractor / yoga instructor in the US
- A pilates coach
- An acupuncturist in the US
- An acupuncturist in the UK
- Unnamed UK therapist
For helping unravel years of unresolved trauma
- A personal trainer
- A physiopsychologist
- A chiropractor in the in the UK

Interesting tidbits:
- The energy practitioner once claimed he could cure breast cancer with his therapy. Also popular among other celebrities
- The chiropractor / yoga instructor is specialized in chronic back pain. Maybe Charles and Harry can bond while they do handstands in their underwear together.
- Both the acupuncturists in the US and the UK specialize in women's fertility issues and help during pregnancy

Tiara gate - Harry shivered when confronted by the Queen's dresser (Daily Mail)

Ok, a step by step
- He didn't say: "What Meghan wants, Meghan gets"
- Meghan was offered by Diana's sisters to wear a Spencer tiara and fitted one for hours to make it work with the veil.
- Then a few weeks before the wedding THe Queen offered her collections.
- Meghan had a choice from five tiaras, and they were presented to them in the Queen's dressing room, a room Harry had never been.
- The Queen told Meghan 'Tiaras suit you'.
- In this article it was the Queen who advised Meghan to try it on with her hairdresser before the wedding. In other versions it was Kate.
- Then they had trouble talking to Angela Kelly (the Queen's dresser) and when they did speak to her, she said it couldn't be done because of security.
- Then all of a sudden Angela Kelly appeared out of nowhere at Kensington Palace with the forms for Harry to sign.
- AND THEN 'She fixed me with a look that made me shiver. I could read in her face a clear warning. This isn't over.'

Mr Moehringer should really have thought about some things in the book, on one hand Harry went through torture training and killed 25 Taliban, but a look from a 60 year old woman makes him shiver.
Harry also senses a lot of things, he sensed that William was seeing red mist and wanted Harry to punch back, he sensed that Meghan needed a moment alone at his mother's grave and he could read the warning in Angela Kelly's face.

Harry was afraid of the dark? (Telegraph)
Royal correspondent Camilla Tominey wrote a column and in it is this little line I haven't seen reported elsewhere.

And, contrary to depictions of him as a largely absent father, the King used to sit on the side of Harry’s bed until he was asleep as he knew he was afraid of the dark.

He also insisted Harry write rather than call as he “loved” his letters and even left notes under the pillow for his “darling boy”. These actions appear at odds with suggestions that the King struggles to express his emotions in private.

Harry mocks his family for working hard
From the same column, also something I hadn't read before.

At one point in the memoir, Harry ridicules the fact that his relatives competed for the most appearances in the Court Circular, the official diary of royal engagements, as if it is somehow a bad thing for a member of the monarchy to be hard-working.

Meghan mistook Andrew for the Queen's assistant (US Weekly)

“After a moment, Meg asked me something about the Queen’s assistant,” the Duke of Sussex recalled, noting he did not who she was speaking about. “‘That man holding the purse. That man who walked her to the door,’ [she said].’”

To add to that:
“She definitely hadn’t Googled us,” the military veteran quipped in the Spare passage.
