Harrasing phone calls from bill collectors who have the wrong number

Not sure who I report this to, can anyone help? I've had 5 phone calls today and I've told them over and over they have the wrong number. The last call which was five minutes ago, the jerkoff said he could not take the number out of the system, it was HIS first time calling and it doesn't scare him that I will report him. WHO do I report this to? I tried calling the number back but it just says v/m is full.

I get calls for this particular family ALL the time from and most of the bill collectors just take the number out of the system. The best is when the gyno calls or their kid's school or even their church. I guess they don't give their new number out to anyone! I'd rather not have to change my phone number over this, but I'm starting to think I'm going to have to!

This exact thing happened to me. I would get calls from all kinds of bill collectors whom I spoke with and told them I was not the person they were calling for and they would tell me that my number would be taken off their list. The problem is that this person kept using my number and defaulting on her loans.

The only way I resolved the issue was to change my telephone number. I know not all people want to do this and all I can say is that it worked!

Ugh I feel for all of you!!

I'm happy to report that they did not call back. I came home from work to three messages and they were ALL for me, shocker LOL (not bill collectors BTW ha!) So hopefully I'm off that particular list. Now lets see what next week brings

I finally got rid of them by getting rid of my house phone. No one has my cell phone and now all I get are mail correspondence. For a while my friends got phone calls but one call we told them we had a lawyer and were going to sue for harassment if they kept calling. They stopped. Finally saved the money and paid the bill off. I kept records of the calls as well. So I had proof of when and where to report them to the BBB! Since the debt isn't yours next time they call play along with it. Get as much information from them as possible. Find out who they are then hand up on them. Report them to the BBB. There are laws to protect you from harassment. Find out what they are in your area.

I've been getting calls from collection agencies since I moved to Florida and got my current phone number. They are always for the same family. It has been over five years, but the calls have finally, pretty much stopped. Just be persistant. If an agency calls and leaves a message, always call them back and tell them they have the wrong number. Sometimes, it takes more than one call to them before they will remove the number, but it works eventually. You'd be amazed at how many different collection agencies there are!

What really amazed me was the day I took my car into a Sears Service Center. They keep records by phone number. When they entered my number, the name of the other people came up. I actually saw where they lived. It turns out that the father is a dentist. He has four kids and none of them pay their bills. I get calls for all of them. Amazing!
