Hi Everyone - just thought I'd update you all!
On Monday I was feeling like I was going into labour, when I went to the hospital they monitored me and decided that they would keep me in for observation, I was 1-2 cm dilated and getting tightening pains every 7 minutes or so. I was sent up to the ward and monitored on the trace machine and DH was sent home.
Quite quickly the pains started coming every 5 minutes and then down to 4 minutes, the midwife examined me and I was 3cm dilated she called the ob and she examined me and in an hour I had dilated to 4cm. They decided that as things were progressing so quickly they would do the c section. They told me to call DH and get him there as soon as possible.
I was taken down to the theatre (sp?) and prepped, DH as usual took ages - they were actually trying to phone him from the theatre! I was given a spinal and the drapes and stuff were put up, the anethsatist (sp?) came flying through the door shouting "It's ok Matt's here!" at the top of his voice! Then DH came in after getting changed into scrubs in the corridor. They started and it was the weirest sensation.
Anyway at 02.50 on Tuesday 16th January my darling boy Harley Jay came into the world, he weighs 7lbs 10oz which is very strangely exactly what Shelby weighed too! I heard him start crying and the tears just started to flow! I was so emotional and it was the best experience - much better than Shelby's awful birth. I was a bit out of it to be honest and drugged up to the eyeballs! They cleaned him all up and bought him over to me - we are both so proud of him, he is a good feeder, I am trying to exclusively BF him but I have topped up a couple of times with formula - just at night to get some sleep which I don't think is a bad thing - better to have some formula and a mommy that is with it than not!
I was on morphine till Wednesday which was amazing stuff! Although I was rather drowsy with it - it did help me to sleep through everyones babies crying at night! I am just taking anti inflammitory drugs and paracetamol now and getting my stitches out tomorrow.
I stayed in hospital from Monday to Friday and came home yesterday lunch time, my family have been great and Shelby absolutley loves her little brother who she keeps calling "Baaaayyyyyybeeeeee" so cute! She loves to kiss him and so far she has been gentle and we have had no probs.
Anyway I had better go and get some sleep while he is! And will post some pictures as soon as I get chance to get back onto the boards.
