Which princess do you think is the hardest to recreate in the Parks?

I think its no doubt Ariel. The color and appearance of the animated Ariel is incredibly difficult to reproduce and as many props as I give to the CMs that have done her, it just never works out. Animated Ariel's hair is also an unreal shade of red.

I just wonder how many times the poor CMs have to endure a kid saying "That's not Ariel! She doesn't look a thing like her!" :confused3

I think they do the best at remaking Cinderella and Snow White, and Belle and Aurora are kind of in between.

I agree with Ariel. I still think Disney does a good job with the girls they have at the park, but I do agree about her hair.

I think it depends on the CMs playing the princesses too. I see some girls that are exactly like the animated character, their voice, what they say, the emotions on their faces, even their facial structure. And then I see some CMs and they don't hit the head on the nail for me.

As for the hardest princess to recreate, that's a tough one....

I agree with Ariel as well. The hair is a big reason, as it is just an unnatural color. Not to mention the fins...probably hard to come by realistic ones.

I actually think that Jasmine is the one that I have had the biggest problem with... one time we had a beautiful girl who appeared to be "Arabian" - but, I can't tell you how many completely caucasian w/a nice tan Jasmines I have seen...

We've never seen Ariel w/a fin - but, the blue dress Ariels have all been quite lovely...

OMG! We have this Disneyland video from around 1993 that I picked up at a thrift store for $1.

In it, there is an Alice that I would swear was a man in drag. No joke! The entire facial structure just screams out "dude" to me.

I yelled at DH to come and see it, rewound the video a bit, and he had to agree with me.

I would have to say Ariel too. Some of the Ariel's we've seen in the Grotto are a bit scary....seriously. It is her hair, that's such an unnatural shade of red.....it's very close to Jessica's...which does not bode well for my anticipated Halloween costume this year! LOL

Ariel is pretty hard to do, when I was a kid, I never believed phochantas was really her, I dunno I guess I always pictured her to look more natural and the have tons of make up on all the characters.

I've never actually met Ariel in the parks, so I don't feel informed either way. I can say that getting Ariel's lips right is nearly impossible since when the animators drew Ariel, they gave her fish lips instead of human lips.

Human lips have a slight dip at the top whereas fish lips are generally completely curved straight across. Of course how many people would something so minute like that is unknown. I only caught it because a friend of mine worked on Sleeping Beauty and later worked on The Little Mermaid TV series mentioned that to me once when we were talking about different styles used in the animated films.

At least in my experience, Aurora is usually a pretty good match with her onscreen counterpart or about as good as they can do when translating an animated character into live action.

The Little Mermaids hair color can be recreated by using L'Oreal Audacious Red hair color in Megareds line. I had that color when I was around 19. Everyone called me the Little Mermaid. :rotfl2: It is the MOST unnatural shade of Red but it is amazingly close to the color in the movie.

I think the hair for all of the disney characters is what lets them down. I've had Aerial's colouring before too :rotfl: By accident actually, but I loved it, then I had a job interview, so I had to change it :upsidedow

I've always thought it a bit strange how some characters they'll decide to have cast members that look like them, and other characters, they'll just go with the whole face mask/body suit what not. Like the Incredibles, why are they full costumes and masks? Surely they wouldn't be too hard to find look-alikes?

The interesting thing is that WDW uses masks for the good fairies in Sleeping Beauty whereas Disneyland uses face characters for them.

As for The Incredibles, I wonder if it's because they may be tougher because of facial shapes. I've also heard that because of the costume and what not, it's sometimes a man inside the Elastigirl costume.

Is Megara considered a princess? What about her crazy hairstyle??

I agree Ariel is probably the hardest. The fin alone makes things nearly impossible. With her meet n'greet place gone due to the lovely fairies, I think she's on a cart, in a bowl, or on legs!

I agree with the Jasmine. Is it really that hard to find an Arabian female to use? Also what is up with the male Maleficent?

Masks?

If Cruella doesn't need a mask, why on earth should the good fairies?

I don't know. A lot of people think the 3 good fairies don't look right in those masks. The other problem is that they sort of look alike. Face characters are much better for those characters.

Gross. I'd rather see the kindly gentle face of a CM than a smelly plasticy mask.
