Hard Rock Disappoints

Seahag (OP), you pretty much summed up my experience at the club level at the Hard Rock, and I stayed there back in 2001. I would of though they had improved things by now, but I guess not :sad2: . I didn't even want club level, I was forced into it because they had no other rooms. NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!! Of course we knew we were in trouble at the front desk, and noone knew what they were doing and kept sending us to dirty rooms :scared: , but that's another story. The Hard Rock had an overall good atmosphere, of course my kids liked it, but I wouldn't stay there again and definitly not the club level. For my money, I like the RPR (I have never been to Portofino, but would like to try it)!! :flower: :pug: :flower:

Oh, Haggy! So sorry you were disappointed in your CL stay at HRH. :( We have never stayed there, but your report is in-line with others who report dismal offerings and rude people in the lounge.

We were never disappointed in what the RPR Club had to offer (and we've stayed there 3x! :)). If food runs out @ RPR Club, it's replaced (at least in our experience). The kids ran a bit amok there too, but it depends upon how crowded the resort is. I do not know why so many parents allow their children to go through the food line themselves. There are the few who do not, but they are the minority. I was disgusted on the last trip by the number of parents who allowed their children to do this -- children in wet bathing suits, helping themselves to food and picking up food and putting back what they didn't want. I was disgusted! Of course, I have also mentioned this several times, but I was also annoyed at oblivious parents who sipped their beer or wine while they used the lounge's sole computer as a babysitter for their kids for hours on end (ignoring the sign that says "15 minute limit."). Please.

Oh, and I don't think I mentioned this in my last trip report, but I was actually at evening appetizers one night stuck behind a jerkface who took his time picking out all the shrimp in a salad they were serving that night -- he took nothing else out of the salad. He simply stood there and picked out every piece of shrimp out of the salad, leaving none for the next person (me!), and moved on to the next item. I'd have been completely embarrassed to do this. Not him -- he just stood there, taking his time, picking each piece of shrimp out, one at a time, with the pair of tongs!

Really though, the RPR Club sounds a lot more relaxing, and besides the shrimphead, there was never really a "line" for the food offerings. Maybe that would be a better choice next time! :)

LOL, you really mabe me laugh !!! besides the shrimphead LOL!! :rotfl:

Yea, we are definately not staying the HRH again - the Portofino is our 1st choice when we return, with the RPR coming in next. To be quite honest, for the way we vacation, the Club Level isn't that much of a draw. It's just not worth the extra money for us. :confused3 I was surprised they billed the CL as having soooo many perks & extras, we couldn't even rent a cabana by the pool ! )one of the few of the "perks" we thought would come in handy.

Wow they ran out of rooms & you had to PAY for club level?? :earseek::faint: Oh, that's a shame. sorry to hear about that. We won't do it again, that's for sure.
It's the Portofino or the Royal Pacific from here on out!!

I was afraid I'd fall out of bed at the PBH and break a hip! :rotfl2: I'm short enough that I actually had to put a chair next to the bed to help me up!

LOL! :rotfl: you & me both!!

We stayed at HRH Thursday night. We didn't do club but had a pool view on the 6th floor. It was a zoo with all of us hurricane refugees and our livestock. They also had Velvet Sessions with Foreigner playing. My Lab loved the low windows and intently watched all the action at the pool. I asked for additional nights but they were full. Nothing at PBH or RPR either so we had to return to our Wilma rubble (or is that Barney Rubble?). When I asked they gave me hurricane evacuation rate of $129! All and all it wasn't a bad stay. Great breakfast at the Kitchen. Even got valet for the price of self parking.

WOW! That's a great rate! To bad it took a disaster to get it! :earseek: :umbrella: LOL

fantastic rate you got!! like going back in time for those rates.

you were on the 6th floor with a pet?
when i was there in october i told them i needed to be on a floor without animals. they told me that only the 5th floor animals were allowed on.

just curious.
raven

hope life is going to get back to normal for you soon.

Yeah, 6122, with 2 dogs without papers or tags. They lost their tags at RPR. During a huricanne they might have different rules? Its the first time we have taken our dogs but I've stayed on the 6th floor before and heard dogs barking.

thanks for the reply.

i have allergies and i have it bad sometimes.

hrh used to put the guests and pets on the lower floors, last year it was floor 2.

I had to go through the desensitizing shots to combat my allergies. Dog and cat hair was one of the many things that I was scratched positive for.
