I think I read somewhere that you shouldn't lock your cases unless you have a special lock and if you have hard cases you can buy a strap for them and a lock? - can anyone shed in light on what I should buy for our forthcoming trip? We have hard cases that do not have the approved locks.

Many thanks,

You want TSA approved padlocks or with hard cases a strap to go around the case. They can then be opened by the relevant authorities who I understand have a master key to save them breaking in and damaging the case.

This is an example of one which is on ebay but you can buy them in a variety of stores and a variety of colours - we have a bright pink one which is easy to spot and different coloured padlocks for our other bags.

Another option is to use cable ties. :)

They are a cheap and easy option. Just remember to keep some nail clippers in a sidepocket for when you get to the other end!
