Harassed by tag?

Wow, they would have hated my neighborhood. We played a game called "smear the queer" (where the name came from I have no idea), and it was like tag but it included a ball. Whoever had the ball, you had to try to tackle them. If they threw the ball in the air before being tackled, whoever got the ball next was "it". Good times. ::yes::

The kids at DD's school like playing fishy fishy cross my ocean. There's another one they like but I can't remember the name.

Weird thing is I live just north of Colorado Springs and there is ZIPPO coverage of this in the local newspaper. :confused3

I can see opting out if you don't want to play, but banning certain children's games for everyone seems ridiculous.

We are just a bit more north and also haven't heard any coverage.

Forgot to add that the past 3 years, our HS men's swim team has played a game called "Polish Ping Pong." Polish because it started at a swimmer's house long ago whose parents were Polish immigrants, so in honor of them, they named the game after them.

Before every swim meet, the team has a pasta dinner at somebody's house. The object of the game is to play shirtless and everybody has a chance to send a ping pong ball over the table and into your body. It is a badge of honor to see how many round welts you show up with the next day at the swim meet. Teens - what are you going to do with them :goodvibes :confused3

Can you imagine the conversation

"But Johnny is always being tagged to be it that is just so unfair. Why does he always have to be IT"
Perhaps he should run faster?

or maybe it went like this

"My child is never tagged. Always running and running and yet nobody is tagging her."
Does she bathe?

DS9's Catholic school plays tag (although they do some version called Sharks and Minnows but when explained to me it sounds like tag made complicated), they play dodgeball (in PE class), they have four square painted on parking lot, and they play touch football bc they have no grass and play on asphalt and one kid did misjudge his catch and ran into the stop sign and had to have surgery on his spine.(but they can still play and no his parents didnt sue the school!) They did ban the 3rd graders from playing Sharks and Minnows for a week though when they started getting too rough and one kid got tripped (not part of the game) and broke his ankle. A week later game was back on.

I loved freeze tag and really LOVED TV tag as a kid. I also remember playing wiffle ball where you got beamed in the back or leg with the ball and boy did that leave welts.

I also though if you didnt want to be "IT" you had to declare your everlasting shield was on!:woohoo:
