A little background.

1) My DD15 and I are going to WDW 5/31 - 6/10 for our annual Girls' summer trip. DH and DS20 are staying home.

2) We love to try "something new" when we go, and the opportunity to attend the inaugural event of Harambe Nights is exciting. For those who haven't heard of the event, here is the link. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/events-tours/animal-kingdom/harambe-nights/

3) I eat a very low carb diet with no bread, pasta, rice, fruit, etc. I also don't really drink very much alcohol. DD is a fairly picky eater, mainly the carbs I don't eat and meat.

So, I have thought about attending on 6/7, but since it is the first night, I can't wait to read any reviews about the food to see if there is anything I can or DD will eat.

So, I am leaning toward not attending, because $250 is a significant chunk of money to attend a show, and maybe have a little dinner.

WWYD in my situation?

Not sure this exactly answers your question - but at these prices I know that I won't be attending. For a family of 4 it's $450 for a few hours for dinner and a show (which you can see similar to earlier in the day or is this going out and I missed the memo??). :scared1:

The show at night is different - it's a special show - not the regular one. But I totally agree - $450 totally priced us out of that although June 7th is our arrival day and we will be touring AK in the afternoon. Oh, well. :confused3

I'd LOVE to do this but it's just too expensive. I wouldn't enjoy myself, knowing how much money we'd spent.

Due to your diet restrictions and the outrageous price, I wouldn't even consider it.

We are another family that looked into it, loved the idea and the concept and then we saw the price.....

With 2 Adults and 3 kids (9,7 and 5) the price was simply outrageous, just over $500 including tax.

Nope, not at $120 pp! If they had an AP or DVC discount, then maybe. But I'm just not spending that kind of money for something like that. Dang...the Star Wars breakfast was bad enough!!!

Glad to know I am not the only one who thinks this way. If DH was going with me, we would probably do it as a "date night," but DD15 isn't that interested and it seemed like a lot of $.

I think we'll go to DHS and watch the special fireworks show for SWW.

We have done a bunch of other ticketed events and ususally felt they were worth it, MNSSHP, P&P Party, Illuminations cruise, Pirate and Pals Cruise (Not worth it), but this one seemed like a lot for 2 people who weren't going to eat or drink very much.

Don't think we would even consider it at the prices you all have stated, but I'm listening for reviews to see how the show is.

Nay because of your diet restrictions and the fact you don't drink that much. I think the only way it's worth it is if you would get your money's worth from the drinks (kind of like the Sparkling Illuminations party).

No way...it's less than 1/2 of a Broadway show length (or 15 minutes longer than the nice Finding Nemo show already in AK) with some small-size buffet food and some cheap beer/wine/alcohol (that you'll be trying to grab before 999 other people) and a DJ and a few characters from the show likely hanging out with you (while you get a strong encouragement to spend money buying stuff). This for the low, low cost of more than a day at MK for the cheapest seat.

Better to actually go see a show like La Nouba or Blue Man Group (who are always running specials where you can get tickets for a little more than half the cost of the current Hamarabe Nights) and have a really nice, really special sit down meal out with the extra $40-$60/person plus tax...maybe at Jiko or Sanaa if you want to keep the theme...

I would probably try this before I did the Epcot after hours event. But I see this as a warm-up to DAK's eventual regular evening hours.

Disney's internal memos to Cast reservation staff was that this was for their "affluent" Disney guests. AKA rich people.

$440 for a family of four prices 95% of people out. I was strongly considering buying tickets for my family and at the last second changed my mind. I knew I would regret spending nearly $500 for just a few hours of enjoyment.... some of which my 6 and 8 year old wouldn't truly appreciate. And knowing that I would most likely feel regret meant that I couldn't honestly afford it.

If you can't afford to go, don't feel bad. The pricing is ridiculous and is priced to take advantage of people's wallets who can afford it, nothing more.

Just read about Harambe today. We definitely won't be doing it anytime soon. I didn't feel the desire to spend that much on a show and dinner. I'm almost waiting for the reviews first :)
