Hope you all have a great day and for those who have posted that you're already expecting a full heaping of "family drama", try not to let it ruin your day!! :goodvibes

Happy Thanksgiving C.Ann. I am sure we can come here and vent to you if we have family drama!! Luckily I am going to DH's family for Thanksgiving .... I usually stay out of the drama. Of course my MIL will push my buttons but that's more my issue than anything else .... as long as she gives me sips out of her wine glass when DH isn't looking I can handle it! :-)

Thanks CAnn - Thankfully the "drama people" in my family have opted not to come - or talk to anyone every again....

Ooh, and happy turkey day to you too!!!! And everyone else on the Dis as well!!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving C.Ann. I am sure we can come here and vent to you if we have family drama!!

I'm sure there will be plenty of full reports here tonight - LOL.. However, if you can sneak away to a computer for a few minutes during the "drama", I'll be here off and on today and tonight..:rotfl:

Happy Thanksgiving to you C. Ann

Never any family drama here, but then again its just my mom, my sister, dh and I. :thumbsup2

Happy Thanksgiving C.Ann.

I happily avoided the family drama by not going to my Aunt's this year :goodvibes:

Happy Thanksgiving!!

No drama here.....just the 3 of us this year.
We are a small family. I am just so glad when we can all get together. Hopefully next year!!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you as well! :goodvibes

Our family drama already happened yesterday (my side of the family this time). It was a bit of a shock but DH and I are rolling with it: he's working, I'm going to see a movie and we both decided yesterday that we're going to start our own traditions beginning with Christmas this year and the hell with everyone else. We're tired of trying to make it work.

My sister used to say (about the person causing the drama this time), "You're going to be sorry after she's gone" and my remark to my DH later on when I told him about it was, "Not as sorry as I am that she's here". I think that was the final straw for him and he suggested that we now spend our holidays making them meaningful for ourselves and the hell with everyone else.

God bless that man.

I was reading another thread here earlier where someone said that their drama-queens aren't speaking to anyone anymore. I almost replied, "And isn't it nice when that happens? :thumbsup2 "

So now I AM replying that it's nice when the drama-queens are refusing to speak to those they're mad at. Everyone gets what they want. :)

Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!

DD and I are heading to DTD soon. We'll be having dinner at Portobello and just soaking up the holiday atmosphere.

Cross your fingers that DD is in a cooperative mood. I want to have her picture taken with Santa at DTD. Of course, being 21, she won't want to do this. Maybe, because it is a holiday, she'll be extra nice to her mom and cooperate. After all, it's been years since she did this and my scrapbook still has empty pages! Lol!

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!!

The trainer at the gym this morning told the class a great trick. When she and her husband were first married they would tell her mother they were going to his mothers house and his mother they were going to her mothers house. Then they would go and enjoy a nice dinner out. For all of you with family drama, I thought this sounded like a wonderful way to enjoy the holiday. :rotfl:

So you are going to a movie instead of having Thanksgiving with family?
Yes, and thanks. When the drama and selfish attitudes make me resent the holiday seasons (or any celebration now that I think about it), it's time to take action and change what I (and we) do to "celebrate" the holidays.

It'll be tough. It would help if DH wasn't working, but we can't change that. We'll have our Thanksgiving celebration later on tonight and spend this weekend with each other building our new traditions instead of with people who've spent the last two days being miserable and wanting to make everyone else around them just as miserable as they are.

The only thing I can change is myself and my actions. I can't change the person who created all the drama in the first place. Once I internalized that and stopped wasting emotion and thought on how angry I was at the person who caused all the drama, things got better.

Thanks for the hug, Belle. I'm going to splurge and see Disney's A Christmas Carol in 3-D on the IMAX screen and the hell with how much it costs! DH said the nicest thing before he left for work this morning:

I should work on my relationship with myself (because that's who I spend the most time with). I should give her comfort, tell her you love her, take her out on a date and buy the overpriced popcorn and drinks. It's what I would do for my best friend who was having a bad time so why wouldn't I do it for myself?

Did I say I thank God for that man? :goodvibes

I hope you like A Christmas Carol as much as I did. If so, you'll find it well worth the cost. Life is too short to worry about the little things. Have a great time!

Thanks, C.Ann. Today is actually a nice day because it's just the girls and me. Of course, we are knee deep in cleaning and preparations for tomorrow's meal. (minus baking the rolls, of course ;)) Last night the girls and I decided this is the last family holiday gathering at our house. Next year, we're going out and whoever wants to join us can. We're decorating the house later today and watching some movies (and the A&M game later). Hope you are having a wonderful day.

And...for the record, among the things I'm thankful for: my friends on the DIS!

Spending the holiday's with my husbands family because they love me more then my own family loves me. :sad1: My family (dad and sister. all other family lives out of state) ONLY call when they want something from me:mad: and my husband. I work and go to school full time and they're still mad when I don't call them and when I do, they still have something to complain about. Mind you, They NEVER call just to see how I'm doing. The word selfish comes to mind. I'm really just DONE with all the drama. Yes, I'm sad:sad1: that it's this way but, it's not fair to me or my family either. I do still love them even though they (dad and sister) are a pain in the a**. I just feel so blessed and thankful that I have my husband's side of the family. The past 11 years we've been married have been wonderful with him:hug: and his family. They've taught me what a REAL family is!:grouphug:Hope every one has a wonderful day today!:)

Just wanted to get back with you about the movie: it was FANTASTIC!

The flying scenes alone were worth the price! There were times when I felt dizzy but exhilirated! I LOVED flying through old 1800's London! I've never been to Soarin', but I have to wonder if that is what Soarin' is like!

I marveled that I could see all the hairs on Ebenezer's nose and the 3-D effects of the interiors rooms made me feel as though I were actually in those rooms. The opening scene where you looked out the window before looking at the book made me feel like a child again! And I can't believe they made Bob Cratchett look so much like Gary Oldman! It don't know if it was intentional, but the caricature was spot-on.

I raved so much about that movie that I think DH is wanting to go see it now (he's been somewhat lukewarm about spending $28.00 for both of us to see a "cartoon Scrooge movie"), so it looks like I might get to go "flying" again very soon! :goodvibes

I don't know that I would have enjoyed the movie as much in 2-D, but I guess we'll find out when it comes out on DVD. I agree with you, Feralpeg - it was TOTALLY worth the cost!

So glad you enjoyed it! They did a fantastic job with the film.

It's funny. I remember watching old episodes of Star Trek where they would go into a virtual reality room and become part of an adventure. At the time, it seemed so far fetched. Every year, it seems we come a little closer to this becoming a reality. The 3-D effects are incredible and getting better all the time!
