Hey gang! It's Pride weekend here, and my partner and I are celebrating our 30th anniversary...we've now been together more half his life and 5 years more than half mine. Well, 'celebrating' might be a little strong; we're going to the Pride festival today, and hitting the casino tomorrow for some bingo 'n' slots. (Do we know how to party, or what!?! ) We probably would have done something more elaborate to mark the occasion, but one of our furbabies has recently developed diabetes, so we need to stick close to home to give her her insulin twice a day. So, what is everybody else doing to celebrate??

I had fun over Gaydays weekend, but the Orlando Pride parade and party isn't until October (they have it on National Comming Out Day).

Still cleaning up after gay days down here! ;)

Ya we have to have our pride a little later, it's way to hot down here now to get all dressed up for a parade! Besides, it rains every afternoon this time of year, who plans a parade in that kind of weather? :confused3

Just getting home after dancing all night at clubs down here in Ft. Lauderdale. Big Stonewall parade on Sunday, but not sure if I'll be up and ready to go to make 11 a.m. kickoff!:cool1: Congrats on the 30 year anniversary!

I miss the clubs in Ft. Lauderdale. Having to leave at 2am is such a downer :rotfl2:

Where'd you go? I havent been out down there in forever. Last time I just stuck to the Copa and Coliseum (I wasn't in any position to drive until well after 4am LOL).

I've heard Sea Monster is fun, I might have to check that out next time.

Maybe I'm just a little stuffy, but I find something embarassing about standing amongst the media and public cheering on leather-bikini wearing men and topless women on motorcycles. That's the way it usually is in my area, at any rate. Sometime soon I hope to visit another area and see if it's any different.

I wouldn't have commented on this thread but I'm reading a book by openly gay talk radio host Charles Karel. In one piece he expresses his view that the real pride of being is gay is living openly and decently amongst the community. So...that's what I'll try to do. :)

The Orlando Pride parade is fairly tame. Yes you'll have some floats with the skimpily-clad people dancing on them (Normally sponsored by Fairvilla and/or Parliment House). Heck, even Disney always has a float in the Orlando parade :thumbsup2

Thanks for the congrats DVC~OKW~96 and unfreshdiva1! We went to the Pride festival today, and saw several young "pretty boy" type couples walking around; the kind that wouldn't look twice at anyone over 30...Felt like telling them, "This is what you'll look like in 30 years!" :lmao:  We sure never expected it to last this long!!!

Happy anniversary! I wish you many more happy years together!:goodvibes

Pride parade for us is in September, then Black Tie Dinner (for HRC) is usually in November. The AIDS walk is in October. I am not as involved in fundraising as I was for awhile, so I don't know if DS and I will go to the parade because we won't be on a float. We might go to the park and check out the booths if we don't have anything else going on that day. DH is a very cool straight guy, but the pride parade isn't quite his thing.;)

Are you talking about DC or Baltimore? My partner and I went to DC's this year and the only people we saw in anything other than normal clothes were the drag queens on stage. We were working one of the booths and were there all day. I thought it was pretty tame this year. We did see a lot of same sex couples with their kids and it was wonderful.

I was referring to DC...specifically, the parade. Don't get me wrong - I have a fun side and do not per se dislike the topless guys ;) I just don't think it wins many hearts from the public. I've never been to the other pride events during the week. Glad to hear this years went better. :)

We haven't been to a pride parade in years, Chris tells me they are taking away our membership LOL. We're usually down the shore. We discussed it yesterday, but I needed to come into the office. though yesterday's weather was perfect for a parade.

The last one I saw was back in 2000, I happened to be in San Fran ofor a conference. That was cool.

All you need is a weekly visit to Home Depot to keep your membership!

I went today and had mine extended!

Ahh, the **** Depot...

Lowes is a lot closer for me though.

Can i get mine extended if i just go to get the green mickey heads?

We dont have pride here in Rock Hill SC we have to go to Charlotte
and i just found out last week that we are not having one this year.
No support... I think all the gay people moved to Atlanta and forgot to tell me.
Iam a bad gay.:sad1:

Will be in the next 5 years or so.
My aim is Key West. with a stop off in orlando

Atlanta Pride was this past weekend. I went down on Saturday and sat with my aunt and her girlfriend at their canopy and just people watched. That is till the 105 degree heat got to me.

Sunday I had a really bad headache all day so I didn't get to make it down for the parade, but I have been several times. So I just napped and curled up with my doggie
