Thanks for your concern everyone. Aside from a growing knot in my upper back, I'm fine.
I was heading across a road near my house (with the pedestrian crossing lights in my direction), and a woman turning left (from my right) was yakking on her cell phone, didn't see me, and hit me with her side view mirror and rear corner. I pounded on her window as she went by, but I don't think she ever got off her cell phone. She pulled into the parking lot of the gas station on the corner and ran over the curb several times as she drove through the lot. She never bothered to stop and see if I was okay, and since I wasn't hurt, I didn't bother to chase after her and just kept on heading for home. I wish I had been wearing my heart rate monitor because I bet it went from 110 to 300 instantaneously.
The odd thing is that as I was standing at the crosswalk waiting for the light to change, I saw her SUV pull well past the white "stop here" line as she was talking on the phone. I figured that with that much of a head start, she'd easily make it across the intersection in front of me. When she didn't, I assumed she'd slowed down to let me go by, which is right about the time when she came into my peripheral vision and whacked me. It's a good thing I had noticed her while I was standing there because without the knowledge she was there, I might have been less aware of what was happening and really gotten hit.
Be careful out there, and don't forget to wear your RoadID or other form of identification.
