I've been confirmed for the Happy Haunts Ball, and am so excited. I've never been to something like this before, and I hope someone can help me.

I just read about the mdse for the ball... Wow! My question: How does WDW decide just who gets to buy what? I just don't understand why, with 999 people coming they would make 250 pins... Will we have to spend most of our evening standing in line to purchase these items, or do we pre-order them? I certainly can't afford a 400.00 jacket, but 35.00 for a pin wouldn't be so bad. How hard will it be to get these things? Thanks. I've never been to something like this before, so if someone else knows the ropes, I'd appreciate the help.

Although I haven't received official confirmation yet I'm pretty sure my family and I are going. I'm also in full agreement with you when it comes to the edition size of the merchandise. I would think there will be some changes concerning the edition sizes as we get closer to the event. If this event follows the same merchandise plan of other events I would think there would be a form you would get in the mail detailing the merchandise and a place to possibly reserve or request an item to be purchased. I hope this helps.

Don't expect the edition sizes of the items to change too much, but as with anything and enough time, you never know.

As for how it all works. If WDW does it like DL Merchandise events, there will be an RSP/Merchandise order form which will be sent to each of the confirmed ghosts. On this form you must select which items you want to purchase and prioritze your wish. The RSP will then be entered into a computer program that will randomly draw the names for each item. The basis for who gets what first is dependant on wether it was someones 1st wish or last wish. As an example, if we both want the Jacket (Once you see it you might change your mind :) ) and I put it first on the list and you have it last on your list and both of our names were drawn and there was only one left, then I would get it before you would based on the fact that I put it first.

The form will show pictures or drawings of the items, so that helps in selecting.

There shouldn't be long lines, but you never know. They will likely prepackage everything, so all you'll need to do is pick it up. How they do the pickup process is unknown, but the best method I saw was through a schedule, where you had a 30 minute designated window and that is when you would go and pick up the items. That way you didn't spend all night in line and could enjoy the event and activities. We shall see what WDW does. The other way I liked was picking it all up at the end of the evening, that way I didn't have to carry it around all night.

Hope this helps and I hope to see you at the event.

Thanks for filling me in on past procedures. I am new to the Collecting Board. I appreciate your help! Once we get closer to the event I'm sure some of our questions will be answered! As for that $400 jacket... you never know!
Hope to see you there!

Although the details are sketchy, I'm still pretty excited that DH and I got in on this! I can't wait!

I agree with ScottakaMickey. They will probably do a pre-request thpe of thing and you go pick it up. When I went to the WDCC mini convention in March 2000, they did not do it this way, and I felt I spent the entire day in the Convention area waiting for my turn (lottery) to go in to purchase. While I got all the things I wanted (cel, watch), I would have enjoyed spending more time at the parks that day, instead of hanging around the Contemporary! I believe they started doing the pre-order thing that same year at Disneyana, but don't hold me to it. Keep your fingers crossed!
