Happy ending to a bad experience...

I am happy that it worked out for you.. but they should have gave you something for your trouble and gas it took to get back up there!!!!!!!!!!! I am sorry.. but that is not right.

I understand completely, that's why I left even though I wasn't happy. I knew they had no choice but to assume I was lying.

Idiots out there ruin things for the rest of us!

I had something similar happen to me once.

I bought a smoothie and gave the girl a 10 ans she gave me change for a five.
I pointed out that I'd given her a 10 and she quickly realized her mistake when she was unable to give me my correct change, as there were no 5's in the register!

I still find that funny now :rotfl:

Thanks for understanding & not taking it the wrong way. There are the idiots (thief's) that are ruining it for honest customer. :wave2:

I was just happy that I got my $20 back, and my excercise for the night because I literally sprinted back to the car! Getting more upset and demanding free goods wouldn't have done any good at that point. At least they admitted their mistake.

Besides, who cares, I'm going to see Mickey in 10 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2:

I like you, OP. You must have AWESOME carma!!!!!! :flower:

Your think paying to park at a mall is bad how would you like to pay to park at your docters office. My docters office that i have had to go to twice a year for the last two years is at a hospital so its a paid parking lot. Luckily he validates your ticket so you dont have to pay but another docter i was seeing at a differnt hospital ( also with a pay lot) would only give a stamp for a discount on parking. Now the amount you pay was based on time spent in the lot and we all know how long most docter offices keep you sitting in the waiting room. Makes you wonder if the docters got a kickback from the parking fees..haha

I'm glad everything worked out for you too. I am a little bothered by your description of the person at the register as a "pimply teenager" though.

Oh, I was trying to be humorous. No harm intended. I guess I meant geeky, not pimply. We've all been there, right?

can'twait -- I think you just did it again! Maybe you better just say "teenager" and leave off any other descriptions. I wouldn't want you to start getting hate-mail from all the geeks on this board (and, I include myself in this group, with head held high!). :flower:

And of course, I'm also kidding around as I know how traumatic acne can be as a teenage (and even an adult).

So glad everything worked out for you at the DS, that is such a horrible feeling when you know you are right and have no way of proving it!

I am just surprised because at our store the cast member would have to ask the manager to get the disney dollars out for them, then the cast member rings in the purchase while the mgr counts out the money to the guest. I guess that's why we have great shrink results!!

I've worked in retail a long time and I understand completely how this could happen. Especially when your busy and people keep coming up to the till and distracting you. Even when the store's quiet it's easy to make a mistake counting back change if you're mind is already on the next step of the transaction. In the past I've had customers make honest mistakes, I've made honest mistakes, and I've had people rip me off or try to rip me off. In fact I had a day last week when 2 outta 5 customers were trying to short me. Ranging from .50c to $30 bucks in giving me change and telling me that they'd given me more then they did. I am so grateful that my store has a change making safe. Every bill 20 and over is dropped into the no employee access bottom section. Every time I have a certain amout worth of 5's or 10's they're rolled up put into tubes and dropped into the top part of safe that makes change. If somebody hands me a 100 bill I push the $20 button and give them their change. (There is a random wait anywhere from 30secs to 5 mins I think before you can get more change). Sorry for the long winded explaination but I love that safe. If somebody says I gave you a 20 I can say you must be mistaken because I don't have any in my till see. Saved my bacon on more then one occassion. I'm still shocked by how many people try this. But at least if something happens we're not expected to make up the difference. I have a friend whose's a waitress is a lounge and she had a table of 10 walk outside for a smoke. Yep they didn't come back and she had to pay 195 to cover their bill. That's just wrong in my opinion. What was she supposed to do go outside and watch them or serve her other customers. I also know that employee's steal. I never let anyone else use my till. Ever.
Wow long post sorry

We leave for WDW in 11 days - YAY! So yesterday I took a trip to my local Disney Store to get some Disney Dollars for the kiddies. I plunk down $45 in cash on the counter. The pimply teenager behind the counter takes the $, rings the sale and calls the manager to get the Disney Dollars for him. It was 8:00 pm and the place was empty except for the 3 of us. I admit I was watching cartoons while I was waiting. :rolleyes1 So the manager gives me $25 in Disney Dollars. I said "I gave him $45." She said, "Why would you do that?" I said, "Because I wanted $45 in Disney Dollars." She looks at the receipt and it says $25. Great. That's what I get for watching cartoons instead of paying attention. She started to say, "I'm sorry". I said, "I KNOW I gave the kid $45. Count the drawer." She counted the drawer 3 times and it came out even. The kid emptied his pockets. We searched the floor behind and in front of the register. I double checked my bag. I only brought $45 with me so that I would NOT spend another penny in the store. My bag had $3 for parking in it. They looked at me like I was a scam artist. So, after a half hour, I gave the manager my name and phone number in case they found it, and I left, very upset. I could not prove I had paid $45, and understood why they thought I was lying. I was a cashier many moons ago. I was SO upset all last night and all day today. I have been pinching pennies for this trip and to have $20 to just dissappear really pissed me off.

So guess what happened? When I got home from work today there was a message on the machine from the manager. The computer was wrong last night, and they found that the drawer was $20 over this morning. I could come back to the store any time and pick up my Disney Dollars. Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! So I hauled my butt back to the mall, ran to and from the store and made it out of the parking garage in 13 minutes so I didn't have to pay $3 to park! Ha! It's a little known fact that the mall doesn't make you pay to park if you get in and out in less than 15 minutes. I'm a firm believer in "target shopping", where I go to ONE store with blinders on when the mall is empty, get what I came for, and bolt back to the car in time to get free parking. :p

Thanks for letting me vent - I knew you guys would understand the value of Disney Dollars. :p

:teeth:

The COMPUTER was wrong?! AH no! it was not they were wrong and you were way too nice especially in light of the fact that you had to go all the way back. You need to contact the manager of the store and tell him what happened. I was a cashier way to long to know they are not telling you the truth.

Computers are not wrong and then turn out right the next day it was human error and no one was big enough to tell you that!!! You should have been compensated in some way instead of having to "bolt back to the car" to save yourself 3.00!!! IF the manager is not helpful then you really should write a letter to corporate. It is one thing to make a mistake but it is another not to take responsibility.
