Happy Birthday to Joe, May 2011. . Trip Report Link

I am all caught up! Fantastic job on the weight loss! I've lost 30 on WW. I am struggling with the new system and would really like to go back to the old. I am a huge fruit eater. I was on the old system as well. I am one of the people this new plan won't work for. I am convinced of it! On the old plan, I ate about 5-6 servings of fruit a day, and counted them all. Even the 2 point bananas. On the old plan I had way less points than on the new plan. On the old plan I was losing 1-1.5 lbs a week. How on earth am I supposed to lose on the new plan where fruit is 0 and I have more points? It doesn't make mathematical sense. I actually gained a couple weeks, staying within my points and exercising like a maniac. So I've had to start experimenting. Now, I give each fruit I eat a 1 point value no matter what. I have maintained over the past few weeks, but no loss. I must say, I not faithful to the plan on the weekend. I pretty much eat what I want. No bingeing, but not tracking. But I did the same exact thing before and lost consistently. This weekend I am going to track faithfully. Maybe I need to drop a few points as well. I would really like to drop 10-15 lbs by Disney. I don't care about how fast I lose. I just want to be consistent and not gaining!

I've really enjoyed your PTR! You are a great planner. I need to fine tune some stuff in my plans. I've hit a lull in planning and am running out of steam. Maybe in a month, I will get the planning bug again!

Subbing in! Your plans sound awesome! We did our ADRs before we found the DIS and while I wouldn't change any of them, I'm keeping track of all these other restaurants. I'm dying to know what Raglan is like, it sounds like so much fun!!!!!

I agree about the new Point system. I'm not a fan. Give me the old one back anyday. :(

I just did a ton of reading on the WW site. I'm going to give this another college try. This weekend I pledge to track everything. This week I plan to track and continue to exercise 5-6 days. We'll see where I am in a week. On the new plan, perhaps the weekends of no tracking is sabotaging me more than it used to.

I'd love to hear how you do. I've just been maintaining. :confused3

.

I have a confession....I totally fell off the wagon and bounced along behind it for a few miles. Katie and I went to Friendly's last night. It was good, though I was a bit sorry later:sick:

Don't freak out or beat yourself up...look at it this way, you shook up your metabolism so it doesn't think you are in a starvation mode and will NOW lose even more weight...That IS true!!! :goodvibes Loving the plans!!! :flower3:

I am replying on my phone so let me apoplogize now if I mess up

30 lbs is great! That is one of the reasons we didn't switch to the new plan. I read a dr review of the new plan and they talked about how the new plan was a way to get people to eat more fresh food and less prepared foods. We were already eating mostly home cooked and fresh fruits and veggies so that and not wanting to fix what wasn't broken (and old plan was easier, we don't need the calculator) we just decided to stick w the old. Sounds like you are in the same boat.

I think that tracking is a big part of it!

WELCOME!! Isn't it fun to read what everyone has planned and learn more awesome Disney tips!!
I never heard of Raglan Rd til I read a few write ups here . Now I can't wait!

Ditto! They messed me up way back when they came out w points the first time- I had lost 25 then tried the new system but just couldn't make it work.

Do you have a smart phone? I downloaded a free tracker app that is really helping me track and stay on point.

Hi Mary Ellen! I'm heeeere!

Wow, you and your husband have had fantastic weight losses! I am a Lifetime WW member but I don't like the points system at all. When I was losing baby #1 weight they had it broken down into servings of fruits, meats, bread - basically the diabetic diet - and I was in the zone then and it was great. It was so easy for me - I knew exactly how much to eat in a day and it worked. The points? not so much. I need a little more structure than that. I also think the worst thing to happen to American nutrition is the food pyramid - what were they thinking???? Most of our calories from carbs???? I would be as big as a house!

I have a May birthday too! Mine is the 12. I was born on Mother's Day. I'll be 48 this year too! I don't have a problem with age. Consider the alternative, you know?

You guys will have a wonderful trip in May. The kids and I went for my 45th birthday on a lark - we had all just gotten APs and I found either $9 or 9¢ airfare on Spirit so we went for the weekend - it was fantastic! Great weather, and the F&G festival is just sooooo beautiful! :cloud9:

We've eaten at Raglan Road and thoroughly enjoyed it. Very good food! You know they have a band and Irish dancers at night, don't you? Not every night, but probably Thursday - Saturday for sure. The information is somewhere on the DIS or AllEars. You'll need to make your reservation in the neighborhood of 8 PM to be there for the entertainment.

I have an observation about the LMA show at HS if you haven't experienced it yet. I think the venue is hotter than the face of the sun, so go to the earliest show if you can. I can't imagine sitting there later in the day. Maybe it's just me but oh my goodness, I felt like an egg frying on the sidewalk.

I loved your shirts, they look great! :woohoo:

And I have to ask - what's a LEO? I thought you meant his astrological sign and then I realized that couldn't be right (cuz I'm a Taurus :teeth: ). I read he's a police officer but I can't figure out the words for the acronym.

You have a beautiful family and I'm so excited your trip is almost here!!!! :cheer2:

I think that in general the points is a little too much freedom. In the late 90's I did pretty well on WW using traditional food exchanges. then they introduced points and it was too hard for me...I knew what the good choices were, but it was SO much easier to pick a bagel than 2 bananas KWIM? especially on the run. so I bailed on it. Then I joined Jenny Craig, lost 45 lbs,:banana: and got pregnant. :lmao: after I had Katie, ease won over smart choices and the weight came back and doubled. Last year DH and I agreed that we had to both agree to watch together so that we were not sabotaging each other. So a year later, he has lost close to 100, and I am down 43. still working but will accept that 1/2 to 1 lb a week is all I will lose because I just have not managed to work a work out into my life aside from my daily dog walk.

Yes, esp the "new" food pyramid is totally messed up. My sister was a dietitian -- she totally helped me keep on track with exchanges.

yep, getting old beats the alternative!!

Law Enforcement Officer :rotfl:

You have a beautiful family and I'm so excited your trip is almost here!!!! :cheer2:
me too....we are so anxious and i am building my pile of stuff for packing in the spare room/disaster zone. :woohoo: I am just getting so behind on my own PTR because I have lots of little things going on that take up my evening Dis hours. I have been trying to read everyone else's PTRS and have been neglecting my own. I will have to get an update on by the weekend with Katie & Joe's picture from the Daddy Daughter Fairyland Dance. :cloud9:

Thanks for joining!!!

Yesterday DH calls me to say….Guess what came in the mail today? Hmmmm I have no idea. MICKEY MAIL!!!
5598483885_7b945c541a.jpg
,
Wahoo! Was not expecting that yet! it makes is so much more official and close. And can you believe he opened it with out me? humph!

35 days. oh yeah, doin’ the happy dance:dance3:…O h and doin the OMG look at all the stuff still on my to do list! YIKES!:scared1:

I had to put in the things I know I’ve done, just to make myself feel a little better. What did I miss folks???

Disney To Do List (purple is done)

  • ADRS
  • make Mousekeeping envelopes
  • put $ in Mousekeeping envelopes
  • fill m&m tube with quarters and pennies
  • pack stretched penny book
  • Joe’s birthday tee’s
  • Red mickey head tee’s
  • Re print binder schedule
  • Print mini schedule & put together in book
  • Decide and then complete autograph book
  • Finish 2007 scrapbook!
  • Pick up alien green mickey head paint samples
  • Make and laminate lgmh’s for backpack
  • Tie dye shirts!
  • Order Disney Visa reward card 4/18
  • Start making & freezing Thor’s dog food!
  • Make grocery order list – decide if using wegoshop or garden grocer!
  • order Joe’s bday gift 5/1
  • place grocery order 5/1
  • Make Joe try on shorts!!!
  • Pack clothing
  • Pack extra stuff/non clothing items in checked bag
  • schedule doggy get togethers with house/dog sitter
  • clean the house (blech)
  • make sure bills due are paid before we go
So knowing that we officially have our Magical Express tags, I was inspired to head down to the basement to try on shorts and capris.

:banana:that I fit into my white skirt (and I looked, there is no real brand name in it to tell me where I bought it, sorry:upsidedow). (My new clothing goal is a pair of white jeans ...they are SO not sized right because i could not even button the top button and they are the same size as all the other clothes I am wearing now)

So for Me I know that I am packing: 1 white skirt, 1 white capris, 1 tan capris, 1 green capris, 1 tan shorts, 1 black shorts, 1 sun dress. I may pack one more pair of shorts, but figure I can easily do a load of laundry so why over do it? I am sure I will have to because DH doesn't have enough shorts that fit him I'm sure, and its early in the season here to buy more.

DH and I also decided for sure that we will pack our Saturday stuff in our carry on and use DME to get our luggage. We were on the fence, since we arrive about 8:20 pm at MCO, but I had a lot of good input about using DME at night & whether or not to get our own luggage. We like to let the magic begin at the airport, so just carry ons for us to worry about!

Grats on Mickey Mail!!!!

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Grats on 35 days!!!!

:dance3::dance3::dance3:

Grats on fitting into the white skirt!!

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Lots of Grats!!

:banana::banana::banana:

SO GRATS FOR THE GRATS! :rotfl2:

Is DH sleeping on the couch for not saving Mickey Mail for you to open?

Can't wait to see your Ts! I told the kids we would try them for our August trip.

Order Disney Visa reward card 4/18
Did you know you can get one at any guest relations (the parks & DTD) after you get to Disney? Then you call and get your rewards transfered to the card. You can use the card right away. In the past when I've ordered by mail I only put the minimum amount of rewards on the card ($10 or $20) and then wait til I get to Disney to transfer the rest. I usuually charge everything back to my room and use the rewards card to pay off the room charge.

I did not know that, thanks! We only just got the card in January. I have been using it for all sorts of stuff then paying it right away to get more points. They told me when I called the other day that you can only transfer when you have a minimum of $10 and that you points "hit" at the end of your statement. did you find that it works differently at the park?
Also, don't you get a discount for using your reward card at the park in stores and stuff? if you charge things back to your room, then you lose that discount, right? I'm all for saving money wherever I can, so I wouldn't want to lose a discount.

Yah for mickey mail!
Dont beat yourself up for friendlies. You should be proud of what you accomplished already! Katie needed the mommy and me time too:cutie: bonding over friendlies(MMM)
I got inspired so I am making Tshirts but the transfer kind. Tips?? I got them at target but I got one per kid so I hope I dont screw them up. I am going to surprise them when we get there with personalized shirts. I am also going to make a tote bag.
Good list, lots done. I have a love/hate with this time when you have done so much most things now need to wait until the end.

I'm sure the minimum is the same if you get the card at the park.

Didn't think of the discount as I always have an AP too but I never even thought you'd get a discount with the "rewards" card I thought you only got it with the actual Visa card.

It's been a while since I used the Disney Visa for merchandise discount. Can you use it everywhere? I thought it was at World of Disney at DTD that gave the discount. I also thought you had to spend $50 go the discount.:confused3---I just looked it up---you can use Visa or rewards card and looks like you can use it at more than World of Disney but still need the $50 minimum.
A $50 minimum pre-tax single transaction merchandise purchase is required to receive discount. Must use your valid Disney Rewards Visa Credit Card, Disney Rewards Visa Debit Card and/or Disney Rewards Redemption Card as payment form and mention this offer. Discount is not valid on purchases of ticket media, gift certificates, Disney Gift Cards, videos, DVDs and CDs, Disney Dollars, sundries, periodicals, digital and video cameras, disposable cameras, film, consumer electronics (e.g., CD players, TVs, DVD players), tobacco, alcohol, In-Park balloon vendors, Add-a-Dollar (Wildlife Conservation Fund), postage stamps, rentals (e.g., strollers, ECV, etc.), all Titleist and Cobra golf equipment, national brand fragrances, treatments and cosmetics, personalization, Disney's PhotoPass® $29.95 special package, Lladro, Swarovski Crystal, Walt Disney Classics Collection, original or limited-edition artwork, other collectibles and select merchandise. Discount is not available at Walt Disney World® Resort Operating Participant locations, including but not limited to, China Pavilion, Japan Pavilion, and Morocco Pavilion at World Showcase in Epcot®, Arribas Brothers, Basin, Basin White, Cirque du Soleil, Curl by Sammy Duval, Ghirardelli, House of Blues, Hoypoloi, LEGO Imagination Center, Magic Masters, Magnetron, Niki Bryan Spas, Orlando Harley Davidson Store, Planet Hollywood, Rainforest Café, Richard Petty Driving Experience, Rubio Balloon Arts, SD Watersports, Sosa Cigar, Sunglass Icon, Surrey Bike Rental, T-Rex Café Shop, Wyland Galleries, and any other locations or kiosks that are not owned and operated by the owners of the Walt Disney World® Resort. Further, discount is not available at Disney's Character Premiere, Disney's Character Warehouse or on phone, online or mail orders. May not be combined with any other discount, offer or promotion. Not valid on previous purchases. Offer is subject to change without notice. Separate Theme Park admission may be required.

Don't forget about the Meet & Greet at Epcot. I would try getting there a few minutes before it starts. They let in one family at a time and let you stay as long as you want so it is a great experience but the line moves slow.

Need technical help- since you did Tshirts, can you tell me HOW do I flip my image so words are not backwards?

There are 2 different kind of iron on sheets you can buy. One kind is for use on light colored Ts only. These you have to print in mirror image (should be a choice in page set up). These sheets transfer the ink to the T.

The other type of iron on sheets are labeled for dark Ts but you can use them on any shirt. These are like a sheet of plastic that you print on WITHOUT making them iron on. You cut out the design and then pull the paper off, put the "plastic sheet" on the T, cover with parchment paper and iron on. From looking at photos I think this is the kind Mary Ellen uses.

A couple of simple hints....wash the T and dry without fabric softener before ironing the design on.

If you use the sheets for dark T's you need to be careful with trimming because everything you don't trim will be white on the T.

:wizard:Good luck!
